Mechanical Keyboard
- I actually found one of the old-style keyboards that click. I love those. The gaming keyboard went blind. All the letters missing and I don’t even type that much. I keep my nails short too. I had a bright yellow keyboard for old farts, still new in the box (some kind of thing I bought for my Dad but he never used) and the shift key didn’t work. That’s no good. Probably paid all of $5 for it just as many years ago so “I searched the world over and thought I found true love”…in the form of a noisy but beautiful keyboard that takes up much less space on my desk. Cool.
- Another continuance on the rental front. We are who we say we are but now another lawyer wants to go on vacation, and it’s costing us more, more, more. I’m not sure what they needed another 2 weeks for. Time to let the lawn die perhaps? The judge said they can’t discuss the ruling regarding a substantial non-payment of rent (in other words money)because we asked them to leave at the end of the lease before they quit paying us. Legal S#*t. Then there’s some weird issue about the lease being too short and the property manager says it’s because of the covid stuff. My faith in her is waning. Meanwhile, I discovered these lovely people had 2 unlawful detainers before they signed. How did the former owner of the business (the current PM’s MIL) miss this? Count myself lucky they paid for years before this came up. Well, somebody in the family was paying, probably to keep them there. Where will they go now with 3 ULDs?
- The neighbor’s fence is getting built. It’s nothing I find invasive or disagreeable except their assumption we should pay for it is a big fat no thank you.
- Yesterday I had 3 doctor’s appointments. A very long day for someone who has struggled to get a daily mile of walking in and found it extremely elusive. Somehow I did get that mile and even had steam to do some extra rare discount store shopping. I needed new bed sheets. For some reason when the old ones wear out it’s sudden and they shred like tissue. The 2nd thing at the allergy clinic is sort of a floating time and they shut down for lunch. There was a restaurant in the building I could never find. Yesterday I found it. Quiet, Korean food, and almost like a well-kept secret. I will go back.
- The dentist gave me an interesting idea. He always asks me how things are going with the houses because he does stuff like that too. Could we possibly sell our Millenial (not the Z yet) the problem house? There’s a matter of a credit card, a new job (he’s been there almost 7 months), and talk of maybe a “commitment” in the future. There are accountant and estate planning questions but it could set the guy up for a pretty nice life. We’d get boned if we sold it on the market right now and there’s capital gains etc to consider. My big issue with selling was you get the money and then it earns zilch (a CD is 2% right now) while the property itself has increased by a 1/3 in the last year (except the vermin won’t leave or pay) and would my oldest qualify for a mortgage at 5%? When I say problem house I don’t mean the house itself is a problem, just the tenants. I lived there for 12 years.
- This morning I woke up to discover it had rained. It wasn’t a nice cooling rain. Felt like Mississippi.
- In just the one day I was off doing important stuff in town the catnip that had rallied after months of careful tending was fried to a crisp. I watered it anyway and maybe one tiny sprout can be saved.
- I was starting to make headway clearing off my desk and trying to get the new effing keyboard to work (Chinese say plug and play but it was reboot and cross fingers) when Hubbin starts asking me random questions about my credit cards. He has every right to know this stuff. No secrets here. It’s just that the autism makes him freak out a bit and it takes an accusatory tone even if he doesn’t mean it that way. This is how I stop getting things done and don’t eat lunch (or take the very important iron pills) until after 5 pm. Phhttt!
I remember those keyboards that clicked when you typed. I really miss them. The keyboard manufacturers should bring them back. How difficult would that be?

Hope you get the house stuff figured out!

You sound as if you’re sorting it all out, slowly but surely. And what a wonderful woman you are to marry someone on the spectrum. 🙂
@novembercirese he’s a pretty good guy, didn’t know he had “superpowers” until we had a kid turn out just like him but even smarter.
