How Things Have Been

Finishing my course was a “happy ending”. Often times, while enrolled in some type of educational program, be it through a formal college, technical school or distance education, one of the main thoughts that goes through the students mind is, “Am I going to be able to do this”? I experienced that thought when trying to complete my course. I had a bad knee sprain last fall, went through “dry spells” of not picking up my textbook, and then the upside, which was good reading, studying and learning on a regular basis. I would have to say that I really got back on track in the late spring to early summer. For some reason, that has always been my pattern. As I may have mentioned previously, I have completed five courses through Stratford Career Institute. I always do better during the summer months. At any rate, I finished what I set out to accomplish. I started the healthcare aide course with the idea of possibly integrating my education into some aspect of my life. My hope was that I might be able to take what I was going to learn and literally put it into practice. I now have a caregiver, myself. If nothing else, I have gained personal enrichment through my education.

I will be embarking on another endeavor, as I was discussing today, with Bear70. I accessed the Barnes & Noble official site to purchase one of my favorite books. I ordered the novel by Judith Guest, titled “Ordinary People”. I have viewed the movie numerous times, and have also borrowed the book through our local library. I will be happy to have my own copy of the book. I have some other books in mind, to purchase in the future. The nice part of leisure reading is that it is for enjoyment. The reader does not have to “commit anything to memory” for future use, as does the student enrolled in an educational program.

I think that I will save the other tidbit of today’s news for another entry, if I end up discussing it at all.
