 I got this in the post today. And it was addressed to me…Mrs….

When I opened it, I had a huge smile on my face and I was so happy!

I noticed how a few pages are dedicated to the Temple of Israel and in this month’s issue there was a picture of the Jews By Choice Students.

When I was younger and I would read the issues that my mother would get, I would always page through it, hoping to see my face in it under the write up about Habonim Dror, or when I watched our Camp Video I always wondered if I would catch a glimpse of myself, but I never did.

I figured that it was because I was BLACK or because I wasn’t actually Jewish. I think I was okay with that, but it would have been nice to have been recognized. The only time I was ever recognized in a Jewish/Camp Report was when I was recovering from a car accident.

Anyway…so I saw how they mentioned the Students who had converted and the children who had had their Bat/Bart/Beit-Mitzvahs this past month.

It is a wonderful feeling, knowing that some day soon I will get to be in the Cape Jewish Chronicle.
