Alternate Ending (Screenplay #2)
she said to save her
with a spinning sieve
I cannot graft to my skin
I cannot heal
I cannot dream
I was born a pauper
a peasant to the chase
a serial storm gutter
bleeding out of place
gods rescued my family
killed me before I’d walk
then rejuvenated me
with mercury instinct
my mother swore she knew
nothing of my face
but my father perished
into the sea of obscure disgrace
love has no cultural symbol
unlike that birthmark to my skin
the sun is setting
in my stomach
I feel the silk
of my own breath
she has the face of a phoenix
the lips of Hades hearth
an arrow of my winter
taken from the
rising dark
she thinks of me
a savior
when I am guardian of the pit
my hands callous craven
blackened coal
so cold
to earth
an angel
rising autumn
I have never been slain again
I arose
when she was summoned
like Eve
rekindled sin
