You and I, we are the same
One devil to another
we each possess a name
And you and I, we have learned
that the more we love
the more we yearn
You and I, we have no home
we’ve tossed gods away
so that we might roam
And you and I, we fly free
because without faith
we have no reason to flee
Without feeling, this skin
it’s a burning temple
watching the marble crack
the earthquake heaves
and I spin slowly, no remorse
But wait a minute, darling
Hold that second hand, I’ll click
pointing to the error of creation
let’s make time stay still
because I’m tired
of falling down this hill
You and I, we have the sun
because beneath stars
I’d turn back into stone
Without touch, I shed my face
like a snake, I outgrow life
and leave behind disgrace
Now wait a minute, darling
why are you wearing those gloves
I know you left some fingerprints
on the murder weapon handle
it’s pointless to resist
you can’t evade this torment
you’ll have to figure out
how to forfeit
I’m not a feature presentation
of your cartoon fantasy world
the bible is another cipher
in a quantum mechanic world
You and I, we are have to choose
between assumptions
to disabuse
And you and I, we have these notions
battleship tournaments
fought in oceans
You and I, we have this history
the more we live
the more we mystery
that digits mean design
on ulterior motive planets
you can’t resign
And you and I, we should separate
this continuum
will castigate
Now wait a minute darling,
what have I said or done
I wanted to break the brick walls
built by the setting sun
when we were a year into tomorrow
you brought up the narrow path
I’ve been down that road before
and I’ve tasted how it lasts
we’re in a modern consumption
massacre
every road to the afterlife
we’ve cluttered tombs with fear
that the sale price might be right
moral responsibility at its peak
where the worlds are crashing down
I feel the tide is low enough
this is increasing entropy
faster than we’ll survive
