Well it’s 2 months later….  Still haven’t finished scanning…

Actually I’ve kinda stopped scanning..    not got much left to go though which is good but decided to do an upgrade on my PC which kinda failed…

I have an SSD (Solid State Drive) for my main OS/Boot drive, it’s kinda slow so decided to upgrade it to the latest and greatest..

I did some backups (Thankfully) and took out the old drive and plumbed in the new one and started the rebuild. I figured I’d do a full rebuild rather than just imaging the old disc. Sometimes it’s nice to just start again even if it is a little more work.

So first problem was that It wouldn’t recognise the drive in the allocated slot so I moved it and it worked (after a little trial and error) then when I did get it to work it would freeze partway through the build or even sometimes at the disc partitioning section of the install. Eventually I got it working and it got stuck in a loop..  Logged on fine, logged off…  You have 92 updates to install….   I waited….  and waited…  hoorah it logged off….   re-started the computer..  installing updates….  10 mins later..  cannot install updates, restoring…   5 mins later I’m back in….  Rince and repeat…

Sent the drive back to the supplier, they tested it and confirmed a faulty drive..  New drive sent out immediately.

Put the old drive back in…  lovely message from Microsoft..   Something has changed in your configuration, please re-activate windows.. 

FUUUUUUUUUUUCK !!

Actually that went fine..  So back up and running on my old SSD, new SSD ready to go..  fingers crossed that it works this time

So THAT’S why I haven’t finished scanning yet !
