Highs and Lows
Amos is feeling better. He’s on his meds for the rest of this week, but he’s been pretty normal since Thursday. Close call though. It was horrible to watch, but I’m glad we gave him the peroxide. Even if it meant a week and a half of meds.
I just found out that my best friend has cancer of her thymus (called thymoma). We thought she was in the clear. She had Hodgkins two(?) years back and I guess during one of her check ups, something came up on the scan. They’ve been trying to figure it out and she’s now with a different doctor who does not believe that the Hodgkins is back or that its an illness of her lungs as her other doc had suspected. He believes that its her thymus. I read up on it and I guess it would make sense since they are all connected… but wow… This just sucks. She just found out on Wednesday and told me yesterday. She said she’s still in shock. I can imagine she would be. She said the doc told her he was going to actually remove her thymus, but what I read was that they first need to stage the cancer… so who knows what’s actually happening. I’ll find out more as she does I’m sure. I feel so bad for her though. She was so sure she was healthy and ever since she had her little girl she’s been in a much happier place. And now she gets hit with this.
I did some yard work today. Moving around really does help me not to feel so much pain, but I was so exhausted afterwards. At least I got my plants planted and cleaned up some weeds. I bought some cute little flowers to line one of the beds and a blueberry plant and a few interesting plants for the front yard to add color. I expanded the flower beds too… so I took the grass that I took out and transplanted it to other parts of the yard that are missing grass. Our back yard is a mess.
We went to Moe’s for $5 burritos in celebration of Cinco de Mayo. We brought them home and I made margaritas from scratch and we had a nice little break, but the margaritas gave me a head ache! LOL I think because I hadn’t really drank anything all day. So, I ended up taking an afternoon nap. Mich has been studying almost all day non-stop for her finals this coming week. So, that was a nice break for her.
To celebrate the end of her school for this semester and the summer break, we are throwing a small party next Saturday. We are calling it Cinco de Ocean. LOL Mich had seen an ad in the paper for crab-legs and I thought it would be fun to do an ocean theme for our party. So, we are actually going to order sushi (probably 10 to 15 rolls) and make crab mac & cheese. We’ve asked everyone to bring an ocean inspired food or drink. We are going to try to make a blue drink for the party. We’ll probably buy decorations too! LOL And hopefully the weather will cooperate and we’ll get to have the whole shindig outside!!!
This week I’m driving to the office Monday – Wednesday and working from home Thursday and Friday. Nice!!! My boss is going to be out of town Tuesday through Thursday, so it will be interesting to work in the office so much without him there. Hopefully I can keep myself busy.
So sorry to hear about your friend. I hope they can resolve this for her so she can focus on enjoying her family. Glad Amos is feeling better and yay for yardwork – I just love getting my hands in the dirt. Therapeutic for me for sure. LOVE the ideas you have for the party – I hope you guys have a great time – I’m sure Mich is ready to celebrate!
