Playing Nurse
I’m here writing on a Thursday morning. I should have left for work 15 minutes ago, but I’m home for another hour or so to keep my eye on Amos.
We had a bit of a scare with him yesterday. Well, it really started Tuesday afternoon, but I guess we didn’t know it then. To make a long story short… Shanti pushed Mich’s eye-contacts case off the counter when they were home alone on Tuesday. Amos must have found it and decided to eat all but one lid. Mich didn’t know for sure if he ate it, so didn’t do much. After a night of dry heaving, we induced vomiting at 5 a.m. yesterday and while I worked from home yesterday I watched him vomit every few hours. It was awful. Watching a dog vomit is awful… I sorta feel like I know how my mom must have felt when I was sick now. It was just painful to watch… so different from when they just regurgitate food…
Anyway, you know what they don’t tell you about inducing vomiting with peroxide???? That it causes irritation on their insides. I had a feeling that might be the case because he wasn’t throwing up any more of the contact case… just food. And we sorta gave him probably too much peroxide. He went to the vet last night and she wasn’t too concerned… just said he probably had irritation from the peroxide. So, we came home with meds and he’s gotta do a bland diet and all kinds of meds for the next 10 days.
So, here I am just making sure he keeps his breakfast down… When will he learn not to eat stuff!!! The vet was super SUPER nice though!!! We had them at the vet a few weeks ago to look at Rosie’s eye and the on-call vet was so mean and nasty to Rosie… Rosie of all dogs… no one can hate on Rosie… she is just so damn sweet… Last night’s vet definitely fell under her charms. LOL
I think Amos is going to be just fine though.

In other news… I’m still in a world of pain. 🙁 The effects from the chiropractor lasted about a day. My pelvis is just all f-ed up. I signed up for a 4 week gentle yoga series that starts next week. I also have been doing gentle stretching before and after bed in order just to function. I told my mom and she said she’s had SI issues in the past and gave me some suggestions. I also asked her for some affirmations (from Louise Hay), because I really want to put a positive spin on this… since I’m really working with The Law of Attraction. I don’t want to focus too much on the pain. So, this is what she sent to me:
For sacrum or SI she has:
"Loss of power. Old stubborn anger."
The affirmation is:
"I am the power and authority in my life. I release the past and claim my good now."
For the coccyx she has:
"Out of balance with yourself. Holding on. Blame of self. Sitting on old pain."
Affirmation:
"I bring my life into balance by loving myself. I live in today and love who I am."
Ironically, I’m not really connecting with those meanings right now, but maybe in hindsight I’ll see it… Whatever the case may be, I’ll work with those affirmations while I get myself back in balance.
Poor Amos! I have horrible memories of our dogs getting into things they shouldn’t and having to make them vomit. It is not fun. I hope he is improving! Ashley
Warning Comment
Oh no! Poor Amos – I realize I’m a bit late here, just kind of trying to get back in the swing of things and I’ve been picking up some viruses on OD so have had to be careful. I’ll read on for an update. (Hug!)
