2013… oh my

Things are progressing really nicely at home with our new little addition. I’m now making this a public announcement, even though favs have been in on it. LOL We have a new little daughter named Rosie. She lived in a empty greenhouse for 10 years being a breeder dog. We adopted her last Friday and she’s been with us for a week and a day and all it good. She’s really starting to come out of her shell now. She still have some instances that she is regressing and she started to shut down last night when we tried to show her she could come upstairs with us to go to bed, but as instructed, we just stopped and let her do what made her comfortable. Amos is slowly, slowly slowly warming up to her and there have been no real incidents to speak of. Life is good with two Goldens in the family. 🙂 Go back a few entries to see pictures and read more if you are interested.

In yoga news, I taught at the community center class that I was offered on Friday. It went really well. Its a 40 minute drive, but I’m being compensated well. At the end, the ladies said they really enjoyed it, so I guess what I taught was similar enough to the old instructor that they were not turned off. I will be teaching every Tuesday and Friday morning and I"m happy about this new addition.

But really, what I came to write about was a job offer that is being handed to me with a big ol’ bow wrapped around it. My old boss (old readers will know him as Dev Man) wrote to me earlier this week to ask if I got the job that I had asked him for a reference on. He wrote, "if not, do you want to work for me?" I told him about my crazy life and he wrote back to ask me to have lunch with him. We met yesterday and this whole thing seems too good to pass up. He told me to take a week to think about it.

He left the company I was last with 3 years ago and has been very happy. He talked up the new company a lot and said that the culture there is so much diff than the place we were at together. He said that the job would be working for him… totally flexible… salary, not hourly, and as long as I got my work done, they didn’t care about what hours I worked. He said that it is a mess right now and so he envisioned for the first 3 to 6 months, I would have to go into the office at least 3 days a week, but after that, he said that I could probably work the majority of my job from home. He asked what I was making when I left Corp Hell and I told him and he said "money is not a problem."

He told me that my happiness should come first and foremost, but he wants my happy life to also be a rich life. So, he told me to go home, and figure out if I can fit 40 hours into my life without sacrificing the things that make me happy. He said after that, if I feel ok with it, that I would need to convince him that I could do it. After that… he said, if I was still serious about wanting the job, that I should make the trip to the office at a realistic time that I would normally have to drive it. I didn’t mention yet that its a little over an hour in one direction. He said after all of that… then I could actually decide if I want it.

He made a good point of saying that he didn’t think there was any harm in at least trying it. He told me there is no pressure, but kinda jokingly begged me to take the job. LOL I’m not going to lie… it is so so so very attractive and I came home and talked openly with Mich about it. I mapped out my days and somehow actually fit 40 hours into a 6 day period without taking any yoga classes out of the equation. He said in reality, knowing the way I work… I will probably be able to do 40 hours of work in a 30 hour period…

So, even though I am ready to say… yes, I want to explore this further, I’m going to wait a week and think about it. I will also be asking for $10K more than I was making at the last company to compensate me for the drive. I don’t expect to get that much, but it will give me more room to negotiate and get something I can be comfortable with.

This is a big light for me right now… so much could change, but I can only see very POSITIVE changes happening if I take this job. I love to teach yoga, and I will not give up all of my classes, but if the last 6 months have taught me anything, its that I really just want to do it for fun… I hate worrying all the time about money and how much people are paying me and all of the stuff that comes along with that. There are certain classes I dread teaching and I will probably give those up, but not all classes.

Life just got more interesting for me and I can’t wait to see what this year holds.
