Theory
Good day to all. There’s not a whole lot new going on here, so instead I’m going to write about a theory I had the other day.
I was in class, just waiting for it to begin and around me I can hear people talking. Well, next to me a couple of girls were talking about a friend of theirs in a class that I have as well. How her husband was recently found out to be cheating on her. So they talked about that for a little while and one of them made a comment about how she and her husband went through something similar. She didn’t rehash the full story probably because the other girl already knew. Anyway, I’ve seen these girls and they are attractive girls and from their comments in class, intelligent girls as well.
So why do they get married so early only to end up with husbands that cheat on them? These two girls aren’t the first I’ve heard that sort of story from. So it made me think about a rather cynical theory. But I wonder more and more if its true. The theory is, that guys that are physically attractive, but not very good on the inside marry these girls early to get them off the market, so they can claim some kind of ownership over them, but still sleep around with other girls.
Basically the idea is that most people do incorporate looks into people they’re attracted to. Its not shallow, its just nature. So, these girls let themselves fall into the sway of physically attractive guys that say a few nice lines, make a few nice gestures and all of a sudden they’re married. Now, while the girl may feel that bond means something, that their relationship means something, many times it doesn’t mean that at all to the men. All they care is that they can now act as they really are.
And somehow its a big surprise to the girl. But what’s more, many girls don’t want to believe it, so they stay in these relationships instead of finding an actual real good guy. Meanwhile the guy goes out, gets drunk, and cheats on his wife. By this time they may have had children. Maybe, just maybe the girl realizes that she’s been played all along and ends up a single mother looking for a nice guy. Where does this leave the nice guy? Meeting girls that have alot of background drama and children already.
Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against single mothers. My sister is a single mother. But the baby’s father is a headache that I wouldn’t wish on any guy my sister decides to date in the future. I’ve dated single mothers and while I have liked those girls I’ve come realize that I’d have to deal with crazy (sometimes literally) ex-husbands and boyfriends and their families. I’ve had to deal with the prospect of becoming a father while still finding out if a relationship is going to work.
I realize that maybe this is just a cynical entry because alot of girls, sometimes much younger than I am (I’m 28) are already married. Some of the dating sites I’ve been on have been more women with kids that women without. And I guess I’m also sick of hearing girls talk about how their a-hole boyfriend/husband/whatever cheated on them for the upteenth time and how they’d like to find a nice guy. But very few of them actually really look for the nice guys.
Well, its quitting time here at work and I’d better go anyway before I say something that gets interpreted the wrong way, if I haven’t already.

You are probably on to something there…

Even more frequently I find myself wondering if their ex boyfriend/husband/lover truly was abusive/cheating or if thats the shroud they hide behind because they cannot face the reality that they are not visions of perfection?

If he physically cheated on me then he would be out the door. Since he didn’t I stupidly stayed. It was my choice. Still figuring out if it was a good one. lol. Sadly I didn’t marry thinking my guy was hot stuff. He has pretty eyes but other than that not much else because of his personality.
