“One thing about Santa Carla…”

Damn the recession.  My job is another victim it seems.  During recessionsthere’s always a cut on the funding and grants given to higher education and research.  Well, my job at the Center is paid through one of those grants.  Its ending and they weren’t able to secure another one.  So come the end of May, I’ll be looking for a job again.  This sucks.  I hope to find another on-campus job, but I know my department isn’t the only one whose major grants are ending.  So it might be a little hard to find another on-campus job.  I hate job hunting.

In other news one of my classmates is trying to hook me up with another classmate.  But the classmate she’s trying to hook me up with doesn’t know anything about it.  I’m confused about the situation too.  I guess I’ll see what happens tomorrow.  Probably nothing.

I’m not being full of myself, but I really don’t know what the Center is going to do when I leave.  None of the other people that work for the Center are very technologically adept.  Hell, I’m not even an actual technology coordinator.  I’m just a student assistant that got pressed into it because they couldn’t afford to hire another coordinator.  Like today I was trying to explain to one of them what the different between the old phone lines are and the T1 lines they use for high-speed internet.  I’m not sure if she understood or if she was even really listening.

Anyway, I have nothing exciting to report.  Classes are going okay, but I’ll be glad when the semester is over.  Good night to all.

the recession is crazy. for a while i was terrified that i was going to be fired and then it was okay a while and now i’m facing calling in sick for a third day in a row and there is this old employee who really wants my job and i know the bossman likes him better and wouldn’t even think twice about letting me go to hire the former employee… its frustrating because with 102.5 fever i really can’t do my job right :o( i hope you find something really quickly, looking for jobs really sucks.

I certainly hope you find another job. good luck with the ‘hook-up’ ; )
