Shiny Happy People

Good day to all.  My mother, my sister, and I went out the other day on yet another trek to find new things for the the home and our respective rooms.  I had to return some curtains at Wal-Mart, which was our fourth stop I think.   So, I’m standing there in line at the customer service and I’m just looking around.  I realized that out of all the people there, the customers, the employees, everyone there only a small handful of people were smiling.   I found that very sad.   And I had noticed the same thing at other places we had gone to.  People don’t smile anymore.  So many people look so downtrodden, so into the daily grind.   I know that many of us can say that there isn’t much to smile about nowadays, but someone could think that of every day, no matter how wonderful or terrible it is.  There are so many things that we gloss over in our days, but if we stopped to think about it there are good things in our day.  I was enjoying the weather today, listening to my music while I was walking, thinking of wonderful story ideas.  I remembered everything I had to do today and got it done.  It’s been a good day.  I don’t drive, but if I did maybe I’d notice that there wasn’t alot of traffic to worry about.  Or even if there was traffic, maybe there was someone in the car next to me that was making funny faces from being frustrated and that made me laugh.   I guess what I’m saying is that there are so many opportunites for us to see the good in our days, but many times we forget.  I’m just as guilty as the next person of not smiling sometimes.  But I think a few more smiles from everyone would go a long way toward making overall population happier.   Okay, done with my thought for the day.   Good day to all.
