Dimensional Reality: Oz (Chapter 11)
He remained silent until he had served both of them stew, a biscuit and a cup with some kind of fruit drink from the magic pack.
“My name is Joseph. I am a Historian in the order of the Enforcers. I was sent here after your amateur spell raised an alarm in the time/space field.”
“The what?”
“Time/space field. Think of it like a calm pond. Now imagine your spell was a rock thrown into the pond. We saw the ripples.”
“Ah, got it..I think.”
Joseph went on with his story after a rolling of eyes.
“Your spell caused a crude shift between dimensions. See…you’ve been brought up to believe that there is only one earth, one universe, one existance. In reality there are infinite earths, universes, dimensions. Where anything and everything is possible. Think of every book you’ve read and every movie you’ve ever seen. They exist in a dimension somewhere as reality. There are infinite beings, groups, civilizations out there. One of those civilizations is the Historians. The Historians are a race of beings that see knowledge as a way of life. They spend their time moving between all the dimensions of existance cataloging entire races and their histories. The Historians are a peaceful people, advancing themselves beyond warfare. It is in their nature to help others, yet many times they lack the ability to defend or stand up for others. That is where the Enforcer order comes in. We serve not only as Historians, but with great knowledge of warfare, great strength, ready skill, and great power to help and defend those that cannot defend or help themselves. And that is why I’m here. I’m here to help you. You are in the land of Oz. The Fates have brought you here.”
“Wait, wait. You said Oz. You mean like the wizard and ruby slippers and evil flying monkeys?!”
Joseph face looked slightly disgusted, “You’re another ‘saw the movie, don’t need to read the book’ person aren’t you.”
Dorothy’s cheeks colored slightly, “Well, yeah. Anyways, I thought that was Oz was all bright and happy, singing little people and stuff.”
She saw Joseph’s face fall when she said that, he looked away into the forest for a few moments before turning back to her.
“It was beautiful once. Now, if you’re comfortable and willing I will tell you about the fall of Oz.”
