Dimensional Reality: Oz (Chapter 10)
“How are you feeling?”
Dorothy just stared at him for a few moments before she spoke.
“Where am I? Who are you? What is this place? What happened back there? What’s going on?”
The man smiled softly, “That’s alot of questions. But I promise to answer each one as best I can if you have the patience. But first, how are you feeling?”
Dorothy looked at the man warily, but the pain in her leg, the wonderful smell of the stew, and the fact that he had saved her crumbled her stubborn distrust.
“I am feeling alot better. A little drowsy still.”
He nodded, looking at her, “That’s the effect of the drugs. But its almost out of your bloodstream.”
He walked over to a small pack leaning against a tree and reached into it. He withdrew a small vial and a white cloth. He held up the vial.
“This is a salve that will ease and heal your wounds. But they do need to be cleansed.”
She looked at him warily again, but her leg throbbed and she had to bite her lip against the pain.
“Okay.”
He nodded and taking his canteen slowly began to cleanse and then salve her wounds. Each time he only moved the cloak enough to cleanse the wounds. She gasped softly as he spread the salve on the first wound. It felt ice cold, then before her eyes the wound slowly closed and healed, as she felt the cold replaced by a spreading warmth. The same thing happened with each wound. Each left a small white scar. After he was done, he stored the items in his pack and shuffled around in it. The pack didn’t look very big at all, but much to her suprise he pulled out two bowls and spoons. He turned back to face her.
“The scars will fade away in a few days time. Now if you’d like we can eat and I’ll answer your questions as best I can.”
*looks high and low* My favorites list tricked me… darn OD… *grumbles good-naturedly* Anyway, I need to go lay down again. Still sick – couldn’t go to school today 🙁 I’ll be online at some point, I think. Not sure yet.
