Hold Me

Where am I? What is this place where I now stand? Is all that was expected from me before, still expected now? My wings are still here and are still black. My sword still shines like the new light of the dawn. I still stand here at the cliff before the roar of the waterfall. I smile at the sun, at the sky, at the clouds. I smirk at the Fates, at God and all the spectators from above and below. Then I jump. The wind caresses, flows, slaps, and enfolds around me. I fall forever. I am alone. I am surrounded. It’s all the same in the bittersweet story of my own life. I feel the rise, the flow inside me. It’s like euphoria, but sweeter, cleaner and part of a deeper power within. Hold me as I fall. The water hits suddenly. The fall has ended. Crisp and cold it flows around me. I am clean. Life is simple in it’s own complex ways and directions. My arms and wings move. I rise. The water breaks and I fly out. Like an eagle, a dove, the phoneix rising out of the fire of its own making. The water flowing off me in sheets as I rise, gleaming and glistening. Like the polished gem, the silver from the fire, rubbed clean. The future comes upon me. I make my own Fate. They cannot control me anymore. The time has come. I fly toward the sun. But my wings are real, there is no wax to stop me. The warmth, the light, the brilliance flows around me. I have become one, simple. Hold me now as the song ends.
