Scotch Tape & Red Tape (cont.)

Finally my suitemate ended up getting drunk one night and breaking one of his windows. The next day the hall and assistant hall managers came to talk to him about the window found him high on pot and prescription pills he had ground up and smoked. They had to call in medics to carry him away on a stretcher. My hall mates and I thought that at this point he would be evicted from the evident proof of his violation of his contract and our rights. This was not the case though, as when he was discharged from the hospital a few days later he was back in his dorm room. Shocked at this turn of events I went to talk to my hall manager. I found out from him that one person at Housing Services could evict him and that person was on vacation so my hall mates and I had to wait until she got back for anything to happen. Not even a week after his return I came home and found that same lingering smell of pot in the bathroom. He began locking me out of the bathroom again. His music began coming on at all hours of the night and early morning again. My hall mates and I knew though that there wasn’t much we could realistically do. Even on the occasions we had asked him to turn his music down and not lock the bathroom door he would agree. But a few days later he would start up again.

The day came when she arrived back from vacation and still nothing was done for another week and his eviction did not go through for another week and a half. During this time he was caught stealing at Wal-Mart and is now residing in jail unaware of his eviction. And I still wait for my Scotch Tape.

Unfortunately a lot of college students have similar experiences. Mine dealt more with freshman hallmates running up and down the corridors at two AM when I had the flu and was delirious… not so delirious that I wasn’t completely pissed off though.. 😛 Take care! me
