My Mother and Generations

Family

First off, I’m sorry that I wrote things in a way that some believe my sister to be older than me and turning 55. I’m not sure how that’s possible, but its my mom’s birthday today and she’s the one turning 55.

My mom is a sad figure, stuck in a world of hypocracy and cowardice. She keeps friends at a distance yet complains about being lonely. She didn’t want to perpetuate the behavior of her mom and did. She’s living in a house she can’t afford. It’s a 4 bedroom house that she will be the only occupant of soon. There are pets: A bird that picks herself bare of feathers, and a dog that gnaws off her hair. She identifies with my sister’s friends (stoners, uneducated beyond HS) more than she does anyone she works with. She doesn’t have the psychological tools to rise above her class in life.

Anyway…

I didn’t call my family to warn them I wasn’t coming because it was only an hour or so before Twin and I decided not to go. They were getting ready and I wasn’t going to interrupt and attract attention to myself or Twin. Don’t worry – my mom followed up and commented on a post Twin made on Facebook about our house saying "she has something for me."

The last time she said that and I met with her, she gave me a watch of my dad’s and his wedding ring.

Generational Theory

With the death of another person that’s fairly old being covered widespread by the media, it draws me in to placing them in a Generation. A lot of these have been those of the Silent Generation, who were the last Artist archetype before the one that is now being born or are young children. A lot of them seem to be successful authors, playwrights, screen-writers and that’s befitting of an Artist archetype.

I like the idea of cycles in history, and agree that history in school should teach it in that way and link similar events that occured in all cultures world-wide. America is one of many countries, and not one that deserves to be #1 or studied without the US studying the history of other countries. Canadians are well aware of American history, but we know nothing of Canadian history. I need to read my book further, "The Fourth Turning" to see what they suspect.

There are some tables that I will have to make note of and then read those theories as well if I desire deeper understanding. They are linking the periods within the cycle to their relative position in the cycle. They’ve asserted that Crisis periods are like winter and Awakenings are like Summers. It also comes up how circles are symbolized in minor ways that we don’t even notice. From the outset of the book they suggested that today society is largely out of sync with the cycles of the earth and history. I believe them to be right.

I will probably mention more things later as I progress through the book to help comprehend what I read.

Your Mom sounds a lot like Steves Mom. It really bothers me. 🙁 She had you though so she did something really awesome! 🙂

is that like birth order? As for your mom, it’s a shame that some people are their own worst enemy. And the tough part is that there is nothing we can do to convince that there might be a better way to deal with life and the fear and uncertainty it produces.

I agree with that, that society is out of sycn with the earth and history and its sad. I think that includes myself as well, but I hope that as long as I am aware of that fact, that it is something I can continue to work on. RYN: Preston and I split up last October. It was THE most intense relationship I have ever had, on several levels.

RYN: I know the type. 🙂 I do not intend to do that. I have kids and need to be cautious. Also, another reason I didnt get a crotch rocket. I am competitive and could see myself going crazy on it when I get proficient enough …LOL
