Graduation Gambit and More

Twin’s department graduation was the first and the best. She didn’t win awards or anything, but everyone did get a chance to go on the mic and give an impromptu speech. Twin did really well. I know she’s a great speaker. She doesn’t have confidence in that. After finding out she was a EN/STP and reading up on that I have been gently pushing her to recognize her public speaking ability, leadership ability and run with that.

We shared a 2L boot at Shultzy’s Friday. That was good. We each drank an additional .5L after that. We were meeting up with ETaurus, his fiancee, CapChef, LMP and GAries later at the Liberty (Lounge/Bar) at 9. Twin took a nap. I figured though I would stay up, play Rock Band while drinking another couple of beers so I could maintain a buzz. I made a pretty bad mistake though; I didn’t eat anything. I went from our 3PM Shultzy’s meal to bed at 12 without eating, and drank 2 more beers at the Liberty. I was wasted by the time we headed home. If I did eat something before we left, I would have been fine.

Saturday was much more low-key in a way, though there were 415 graduates so we were there awhile and it was PACKED. At my HS graduation, there was no crowd-calling for each student, and my Principal was very good at keeping that to a minimum. Twin and I also both felt the same that graduating HS can be done rather easily, its something your SUPPOSED to do. It was a somewhat undisciplined ceremony with administrators that weren’t great public speakers.

Sunday, it was almost the same as Saturday… just less of a crowd. In addition to my sister graduating, a 3rd cousin of mine graduated and BGem’s fiancee graduated. She actually managed to graduate in the top 1% of the whole school. That’s pretty admirable. We ran into them on the way back to the car and congradulated her. There was a party for my 3rd cousin that we attended for a few hours before heading home.

Other stuff:

– We submitted an offer on the house we had been looking at. 120k and we expect a counter. They have until tomorrow at 9PM to answer.

– One of Twin’s grandmothers is deeply religious, and at approaching 80 years old… wants LG to move on from this "phase." HA. I expected this and wasn’t surprised she’d make such a comment. Twin’s mom was furious. So the grandmother is praying for LG. I think she should be praying for herself, honestly. There is nothing we can do I stated to really change her mind, so its not on BG to set his mom straight. Its a battle that won’t be won.

– 3 Graduations in 3 days is not fun. Twin and I were very burned out yesterday evening when we arrived home. We’ll get back on track this week in eating great, wholesome food and spend some quality time at home or participating in our hobbies.

– Twin’s birthday is on Wednesday. Its her turn to turn 28 😀

Sounds like an exciting busy weekend! I remember when I did my first speech at my college graduation, I thanked my family for their support and blah blah…and when I went to sit with my family, my mom’s comment, “Gah, you didnt even thank your daughter!” yeah, I didnt name names, just thanked everyone in general. Gee thanks Mom. :/ Way to boost my confidence and congratulate me!

RYN: she probably has had similar experiences and it IS a pain. I am a small up top, EXCEPT for my bust… so I buy medium or large sizes, which just dont fit right b/c they are too big everywhere else. Its frustrating.

As much fun as it is to be doing this and that with friends and family, it is always good to get back to your own agenda.
