Wedding Update

Ok, so we took back all the stuff I bought, except for the pen holder and centerpieces.  We found some other cheaper stuff that we liked and plan to go back and buy it as soon as possible.

For now we are sticking with my general idea of centerpieces.  Stephen has a few ideas of his own and we are toying with them……but for the most part its the same idea I originally had.

I ordered the cake topper yesterday.  Have no idea what the cake is going to look like but we both really loved this topper.

We went to the bridal show this weekend.  Stephen made an appointment with a cosmetic dentist to get his tooth fixed.

Ive decided I can just make my own invites etc.  Printed out samples yesterday for Stephen to see tonight.  Just got to find some pretty paper to print them on.  I showed them to Rachel……she really liked them.

Slowly but surely its lookin like we might be able to pull this off financially.

The first place I looked at to hold the happy event never emailed me back.  I had moved on from them and started looking at other places.  I told my sister about them for her wedding, she called……..they seem cheap enough.  We get the reception center……not sure what else, other than access to all 35 acres for just $650, we also get the place the night before to set up and such.  WHOO HOO!!

Rachels stepdad is a wedding photographer/videographer.  Rachel says he is willing to do it for us, all we pay for is supplies.

Stephen and his mom have come up with the idea that she could cater for us.  That would be her wedding gift to us.  Since she cant really afford much else.  Again, just pay for supplies.  My only problem is, I dont want one of our VIPs working…..I just want her to be able to enjoy herself.  We shall see.

When we went to the bridal show we met a guy from a place who does non denom weddings, they have several ministers.  I was reading over their paperwork last night and such and I think I like them.  Just gotta find out how much it cost.

Oh……I found a site online with some really cool cakes, they were at the show……I liked them…….I think I want to go with them.

I guess thats about it for now.   Got to start making phone calls.  If all of these things pan out like I hope they will…..all we really have left is a florist, DJ, dresses and Stephens ring.

What else am I missing…….what else do I need??

We started our registries this weekend as well.  Yay.  BTW…….what are your suggestions for things to put on a bridal registry????

I was really afraid we would have to wait until 2008 because of finances…….but we might be able to pull this off.

You can make it happen. You just need to prioritize. We are not having a DJ and limo. My friend just got married and I was surprised to learn she had hers done at a local grocery store! It was fantastic. I made my own invites. I got them on clearance at Staples for $10. I got 2 sets. I used one for all my guests and the second I am using the paper for wedding agenda,..-cont-

and the response cards for annoucing new personal information(phone # and address). I did not have a registry. So I can’t offer any suggestions there.

Well, considering I eloped and never have gotten to have a wedding, I don’t have too much advice on what i regret in hindsight! But I would just ask for things that you know that you would use, or need, over things you like and think are pretty! I can’t remember if you’re living with your fiance yet or not, but if you aren’t, think of all the things at home you’d need!

RYN: It’s Ok to be confused, I find that most people get WAY confused when reading my diary. Yes, I’m married, yes to Stephen, and yes we aren’t living together right now as we had some problems last April and I had to leave in order for us to work throug things. Things got really bad for awhile and we moved quickly towards divorce, but now things are working out better!

Oh honey, Bridal Registries are the second best part about getting married (the best being the husband, of course!!). Register for _everything_ – towels, linens, washer/dryer, dishes, blender, toaster, the whole forks/knives/spoons thing, spice rack, pots and pans, vaccume, dining set, anything you could use around the house is game. 🙂 Fun things like pool tables, entertainment centers, DVD…

…and TV’s and sterio systems are also game. 🙂 Have fun with it!

YEY! If you want something bad enough you’ll find a way for it to happen. IT sounds like Stephen is helping you with the planning some…that’s good. *HUGS*

I don’t know what your honeymoon plans are, but there are some websites that allow you to pick a destination etc. and have people put money towards your honeymoon instead of a gift. Off hand, I’m not sure what they are, but I’ve heard of them.
