feeling rejected

I know that I should not feel rejected about this, but I do.

At around 12:30 I called my place of work, to see if there were any hours available this month. Because, if I don’t work some hours during this month and next month, there will be a 90 day discrepancy, and I will lose my job. The schedule coordinator said that "yes, I actually have some hours for overnight tonight, can you work midnight til 5:00 am?" I said sure…..I was to be a "floater" who didn’t have an assigned group of residents, just floated around helping the other girls.

I was actually pretty excited. Laid down for a nap before A got home from school, and my father-in-law (N.) came to pick A up for the weekend. Had the usual dreams of…..couldnt get to work on time…..couldn’t find a babysitter…..didn’t KNOW my job when I got there…..(have only been working there 3 years!!)

Any case, I just got a call about 2:30 from the schedule coordinator. Can’t use me tonight, have a pretty full schedule. Will try to see if she can "fit me in" sometime before the end of next month. I reminded her that my 90 days are soon up…..she said she knew and would try her hardest.

Now I feel rejected.

I am per diem, and am supposed to work at least one day a month, told her that even 2 or 3 a month would be okay. I NEVER get put on the schedule, and am only called in emergencies, when I usually have other committments, or can’t make it in at all.

Pfft. I’m thinking that maybe I need another job. It has to be close. And consistently part time.

I was actually thinking about sending in for information on a medical transcriptionist. Something I can do from home, and actually get paid for. We’ll see. Got the Penn Foster brochure in the mail today. I think it’s a sign.

I went from feeling great to feeling discouraged with one phone call. I don’t even feel like changing out of my pajamas so I look presentable when N comes to pick up A.  (N is the one that believes that I will go crazy and burn the kids to stakes in the backyard. Hm…..barbacued attitude, wonder how that tastes? Bleh.

I didn’t get a chance to write about my day yesterday with mother-in-law. (We will call her W.) K, C, and I went to pick W up at her apartment, and she had a bunch of things for the kids that she had got in Florida for them. (I feel left out, I got NOTHING!) Ahem. We all decided to go to Big G’s for lunch, so we stopped at the store for some drinks and gas, and we headed to Winslow.

Now, I love Big G’s, I really do, sporadically get cravings for one of their sandwiches. (The sandwiches are sooooo huge, 4 regular-size sandwiches placed in a square, make the size of ONE Big G’s. And their whoopie pies? Double the circumfrance of a CD. Love em. But I do not like their prices. W payed $50 for lunch for the 4 of us.

Afterwards, we came home, and K and I brought the pop-up camper up from out back, and we cleaned it and closed it all up while it was still dry. Now it is all ready to take for a trip, as soon as we get it registered, and K gets some time off from work.

After the camper was done, we had to go to pick up A (who had gotten a detention, and had to stay after school.) Then all 5 of us headed back to W’s apartment to take her home.

It was a busy and full day, it was wonderful sitting at the picnic tables in the back of Big G’s, with the sun shining and the smell of freshly baked bread wafting our way. We took Bridgie with us, and she had a blast, but the day tired her out too. (Bridgie is our 1 year old Blue Merle-Border Collie.)

So, now I am home, sitting in my pajamas, thinking about filling in the card for information on medical transcriptionist, drinking warm iced tea (is it really "iced" tea if it is warm?), waiting for A to get home, and N to come and pick him up.

Then I will go back to my room, lay in bed, and read my current literary selection.

Great day to you all…..

I actually did medical transcription for a while, and it was definitely a fun challenge but I finally stopped because there is a great need for transcriptionists for foreign doctors and they are SOOOOO difficult to understand sometimes! And so many of the medical terms sound almost identical so it was very frustrating!!

Your a very clam person aren’t you? You actually sound like me – everything has to be in order: my problem is that my lovely husband is a bit of a slob! Hahahaa! Czah!

The part about baked bread made my mouth water. Mmm I love that smell.
