Now the sun can be my friend
I’m thankful for being able to sit outside. I know this is a cruel time of year for many. I’ve spent most of my life in cold winters. Here in Arizona however, the weather is mostly foreign to me.
This past summer has been the hottest and driest on record in Tucson. We experience a significant wildfire that just wouldn’t give up because rain couldn’t come fast enough While the cold can be incredibly painful (anyone else remember the Polar Vortex?) this desert heat is brutal and humbling. The temperature started dropping in November and became pleasant around thanksgiving. I’ve been so busy with work in the last month, I’ve forgotten to go outside. So yesterday I spent almost 4 hours working on my back patio. Heavenly. It reminds me how blessed I’ve been to live in so many different places with different people. Our world is so beautifully diverse. Here it’s the perfect 72 and sunny for the next couple of months before it starts leaping towards punishing triple digits. The view from my patio isn’t very inspiring with the xeriscape landscape and concrete courtyard, but it’s a very safe place. I miss snow with all my heart, but I’m incredibly thankful that I can be outside without feeling as though I’m dying.
