Gisele’s Care Team Meeting
There is a meeting this morning with Diane’s mom, her care team and us (telephone conference). Gisele is about the same and I need to organize my thoughts and questions in preparation.
I want to make sure that she is the center of the conversation about her care even though she will struggle to get words out as quick as everyone else. She needs to be involved in making the plan in order for her to accept it and participate in therapy.
Right now she thinks that she belongs in the hospital. Soon she will think that she belongs back in her apartment. She doesn’t realize that this is not practical.
- Goals or accomplishments needed before release (stairs, get off oxygen and self care)
- When can she have visitors? Still contagious? Will she move to the non-Covid wing? She will feel better around some other people
- Broach the subject of changing to a ground floor apartment? If she can’t climb stairs again than she won’t have a choice.
- Eating – claims she does not eat. Is this monitored?
Other possible topics for further or reference
- Getting groceries and food into the house
- Home health aide or nurse
- Safety device (Life Alert)
- Laundry
- Grandson Bill assistance? What can he do and what will she allow?
- Mail is being held until Feb 20
I think that her family needs to be prepared that she may never fully recover to her prior level of functioning. She was still driving and playing bridge three days a week! I don’t think that we will see this again. 🙁
