Rotator Cuff Injury
I am well on the way toward being fully recovered from a Sept 2 injury. It happened lifting a huge block of wood onto the wood splitter. After that I could hardly move the arm up away from my body. I waited a few weeks to see if it would get better but it did not. I went to the doctor and he sent me to physical therapy. I was skeptical but willing to try anything. I can’t say enough good things about them. They really understand the shoulder anatomy. After an assessment they gave me a series of simple exercises that would not cause further damage but would strengthen areas around the damage. I went to see them weekly for 6 weeks. I then was traveling and had to isolate so I took a month off. I continued doing the daily exercises and like magic around mid-November my range of motion started to increase dramatically. I would put my recovery at about 90% right now. Lifting above my head is difficult and my range of motion is hampered in a couple directions. I’m continuing to work daily on this and fully expect to get back 100%. Things move more slowly when you are 63 years old compared to 30!
