My Little Liz is Growing Up

Tis true. I may be getting older, and finally taking that step towards being a grown up. I may even get a REAL JOB. But, nothing is for sure as of right now.

So, I was checking my e-mail the other day, ya know, just seeing what junkmail to toss, and what to ponder over later when I realized I had an e-mail from Enterprise Rent-a-Car. I thought it was in regards to the car we had rented to go on vacation, ya know, something telling me the credit card never went through, or something. But, in fact, it was an online job application. I figured, what the hay. So, I took a half hour out of my non-busy life and filled out the application.

I am walking into work this morning, when I feel my phone vibrating in my apron. I answer the phone, and it is someone from enterprise, telling me they received my application, and would I have a few minutes to answer a few questions. I told the nice woman I was on my way into work, but to call me after three. Well, she did. I answered a few basic questions (basically bullshitted my way through a bunch of questions) and she said she would get back to me after Monday.

This is weird. I maybe getting an actual job. A job with a salary, and benefits, and no more asking people if they would like a refill or how they want their steak cooked. True, it could also turn out to be torture. She told me that their associates work 50 hours a week. As long as my salary reflects that, I’m fine. I put on the application that I would accept nothing less than 26,000 a year. NOTHING LESS. I figure that’s more than 2000 dollars a month, and with rent and bills, I may finally be able to get a new car. Fantastic. I can’t STAND my car any longer. Who knows? Maybe I’ll get a company car for less.

Of course, this is not something I want to do the rest of my life, but until I can get in and get my masters program started (which I learned won’t be until Fall 2006 at the earliest… bleh) this will give me something to do. Ya know, wake up early, have my coffee, shower, look NICE going into work. I can’t wait. I’m growing up… and trading in my daipers for dollars. Wish me luck!

Oh, and PS- to those who read my last entry and thought I went with Mike Minor on vacation… wrong Mike, i was talking about my roommate Mike. Sorry !!

But you have a degree you can still get a job related to your field with a bit of work experience, you don’t have to wait for your masters. My sister in law just finished her degree, and will be going into her graduate or masters program or whatever, but she was offered a job in her field in the meantime since her graduate classes are in the evening. Maybe enterprise could build you up to

some job related to your field of schooling, although I guess it’s not related but experience is still experience.

sweet dude!

OH!! i hope you get it!!!

dude, f*** $26K. that’s what I make (plus about $2K tips), and vegas is way cheaper than chicago. if you don’t get at least $30-32K, things might get a bit tight.
