That was rather warm. I’m tired. TGIF
Blah, well I kinda feel like I wussed out by not riding my bike in this morning. The heat has taken it’s toll. I think I could do better if I had to do it over again, but that’s experience for you. Not sure when/if I remember the last triple digit temps. And I suppose I’d just as well not have them again soon to try to deal with.
It went something like this:
I went out at lunch. It was quite warm(101F, about 110F heat index). I walked a few blocks without sweating.
Then took my trip up the hill after work. I even took a bottle of water with me this time. I walked a bit more of the hills and stopped after the big hill and before the next good section of hills and drank about half a liter of water, it was still cold which was nice. The nice part of the way I went was the shady areas. I’d reach them and go "ah, that’s not horribly bad with the breeze." Then hit the sun on my back and "GAH! That’s REALLY HOT!". It was definitely a LOT more strenuous of a ride in that heat and I was just completely soaked in sweat.
I had decided on the drive home that I wasn’t bringing the bug today as the clutch cable came off again yesterday morning and I didn’t feel like re-attaching it last night. These are definitely the days for driving open vehicles(as long as you’re moving)…
But the Prius has the advantage of being much easier to haul the garbage in(I might be getting closer to trying to carry a bag of garbage on the bug, but the one time I looked at it, I as just envisioning the 50mph winds whipping at the bag and garbage flying down the road…) and air conditioning…
ANyway, made it home last night, went in and closed up the back room and turned on the AC. It was about 92F in the house. I didn’t look initially, but I think the thermostat said more than 50% humidity.
I’m still dripping all over the place, no matter how many times I wash my face with cold water and dry off. I then went and took a shower. Headed to the back room, which after close to an hour was down to around 88F and the humidity was closer to 40%. It definitely felt nicer in there than the rest of the house.
I was going to go to bed around 8. Well, 8 came and went and it was still almost 90F outside, the back room was down to about 82F. I decided to try sleeping on the couch in there till it got cooler.
I woke up around 9:30 and the room had made it down to maybe 78F. I decided to try the bedroom. So I opened the door from the AC room to the bedroom and went to bed with the fan on high. The bedroom was at 88F.
I did NOT sleep well at all… No idea how much sleep I got. I just know I woke up a lot, and the temperature was insane. Like at 1AM it was still 85F out and about that warm in the bedroom.
So I woke up at my usual 5am(well ok I slept in another 15 minutes or so) and it was STILL 80F inside and out… Gah…
So I pretty much decided I was going to drive in. I didn’t want to arrive at work all sweaty from riding in at 80F and I’m fairly tired.
Also, We’re heading out tonight so I’m going to just leave Shadow at my parents and that’s easier if I don’t show up at lunch and tell her to stay there. She doesn’t mind going there in the morning, but she wants to leave when I show up.
I gave brief thought to borrowing my brother’s crotch rocket… It would be fun… But still too much planning of vehicles and I’m too tired to only barely be able to maintain plans for the 5 or so things going on this weekend.
I also decided to stop at BK this morning(gotta love ciabatta breakfast sandwiches and mini blueberry muffins!). It is normally empty at 6:15am. I glanced in and it was FULL and then I noticed they are all amish.. Woah, that’s something new. And then Oh. I know why they’re here. For one of the big accidents.
I know not what’s going on around here, but there seems to be some bad luck or something… The first… Hmm, well there was a tour bus that rolled over and killed 4 people and injured like 20-40 others… That was like last weekend.
Then this one was a few days ago, apparently some dwi guy driving a car went to pass a tractor on a curve and ended up hitting a van full of amish that ended up smashed into/under the tractor. That killed I think 5 or 6 amish, and a few in really bad shape. So there are thousands of amish coming to the area for funerals today and tomorrow I believe. So that’s why there was a tour bus of amish at the burger king this morning.
Oh and then the third was I guess last night a tractor trailer crashed into a tour bus, killed one and like 20 or more injured.
Dunno what the deal is.
So, work this morning.
Leave around lunch time.
I think I shall head to the air conditioned room that I left on this morning. Probably watch some tv. Decent chance at a nap I think. Oh, I think I should try to head down to mechanic Mike’s and see if I can get a feel for the likelihood of him doing any work on the bug and expecting not much, probably pick up the driver’s seat that’s been down there for months now.
Then head over to pick Sara up from work and go have some dinner, look at pools we won’t get and probably kayaks we won’t get as well. Oh we should probably pick up the dog too… I guess… But we’re going to drop her back off in the morning… mid-high 90’s today.
Tomorrow we drop the dog off, learn about biofuel up at the park, lunch, then head up to give blood, maybe see Captain America, probably dinner, then pick the dog up again. Still mid-high 90’s.
Sunday I think we’re going to try to get up early and hopefully make it outside while it’s at it’s low of like 70F and go hike for a few hours. Though it might actually not make it up to 90F on Sunday. That would be nice.
Now if we could only get some water to fall from the sky… That would be nice as well. It’s been quite a while…

That’s ridiculous and sad about all the major accidents in your area lately. Best of luck staying cool until the weather (hopefully) returns to normal!

It is crazy that it is so much hotter there than it is here. I am wondering what I am getting myself into!

Sad with all those accidents. We’re at 104F right now (4:20p) with a heat index of 118. And it’s supposed to hang around for the weekend. That’s just crazy.

ryn: Yes, if you have any device that you can watch TV shows on as they’re aired then a licence is required. It’s not a licence to own a TV so much as a licence to watch TV shows.

RYN It is legal to turn kids at one year 20 lbs. It is much much safer to keep them rear facing. I am going to keep her rfing till she hits the max of her seat which is 40lbs or when her head is past the edge. I thought for sure she would be excited to see everything but obviously I was wrong.
