Awake?

 I *think* I’ve been awake since about 2:30am…  It doesn’t really seem like that’s possible.  And I’m more functional than I would think I would be if that were the case.  But definitely still kinda "wha?"  See, I woke up at about 2:30 and I’ve still got this minor congestion running around my nose so it was annoying me at the difficulty/noise of breathing.  So I got up, peed and tried to clear my nose a bit.  Seemed better.  Then went back to bed.  Problem was, I don’t really recall sleeping much at all.  To the point where it got to be 4am and I figured I might as well just get up since it was about that time anyway.   So I did.

I’ve got my usual tea and water.  And I picked up an English toffee cappuccino.  Haven’t had one of those in a LONG time.  I think I will be going to sleep tonight at about sunset.  Or at least I kinda hope so…

Umm…

I think it’s been pretty normal…

We stayed at the house this weekend.  I ate badly yesterday in particular and at the moment today’s not shaping up too well.  I do have plans to get out at lunch and walk though to at least get something moving…

Thursday is Baja day.  We take Sara’s Baja for a 60 mile drive to a DMV facility where they will verify that neither it, nor it’s parts are stolen.  Let’s all cross our fingers.  It should be fine since it already went through this in Jersey…  And if all goes well, we should have a title in a couple weeks and be able to register it!  YAY!

I’ve also been on the same kick I’ve been on for a couple years now and feeling like I want another bike(motorcycle).  However, at this point in life, it would be about as much used as the last one.  Which is to say almost never.  It would only be if I made special trips with it at night or weekend or something.  I generally always have Shadow and frequently Sara.  Neither really want to be on the back of a bike.

So I’ve been investigating what might be the next step up and hopefully affordable(like near free).  Well of course the first thing that comes to mind is the T-rex…

Unfortunately I found those are like $55K…  Ummm, yeah, that’s kinda insane…

The closest to realistic I could find pre-made was the SR-250:

Considerably less power, but still fast enough.  But still like more than $6K.  Bah.  Maybe someday.

So, I started investigating more trying to make my own.  I was getting close to that with the Xzilarator:

This was where I was heading…  But still looking to be pretty expensive.  All the parts for one, but then I need a Goldwing for the motorcycle in back.  Problem is that even almost quarter-century old ‘Wings are generally still like a couple grand$….

But…  In searching for this, I asked mechanic Mike if he had any ideas and what it might cost to make that frame.  Well, he ended up mentioning that he had an old tube frame VW.  This was in fact another thought I had, but I couldn’t find much info or ones to buy or they were expensive…

So…  I took a trip across the road, down a path, around some trees and into his field and found it…  I think this might be what I’m looking for…  It needs a LOT of help, but I kinda think that sounds fun…  And it is so basic that it should be easy to work on.  Let alone that there is so little car around it that it’s easy to work on everything!  None of what I’m used to trying to reach an arm and a few fingers here and there stuck between parts and the walls of the car, etc…

Anyway, it is most definitely a project and I think I like it.  And we’re down to $200.  And the approach I plan on taking should hopefully keep the costs much lower and more spread out.  I still don’t think Sara’s happy about it, but she SHOULD be thankful that I’m not bugging her about needing $10K for this and another $10-20K for a utility vehicle!
