Now and then
Yeah, I’m gonna kinda mish-match this entry maybe…
So I’m at work now, and just trying to figure out what to do as I haven’t really been on the interwebs From Sat-Monday and last night we got home and I started taking a look and this morning confirmed that we have a server down, meaning a bunch of websites are down. I look more this morning, and the one site that is working has a domain name owned by someone the boss is working with. Well apparently she went and got her account cancelled for the domain name… So… I guess they decided to just leave it as is, so it’s working, but the account is locked and I assume that in September when it says it will expire, it would die if we don’t do something. So, not entirely sure what I’m doing there… And for that matter, I’m not even sure why that website is working since according to whois, the DNS is routing through the server that is currently dead… *sigh* And this along with all the other crap with the travel site where apparently the travel company is closing offices or what not, yet the employees are just taking over the office, so they want to be off of the old site, but boss and travel company say they stay on for now… Who knows…
As for the trip? Well- Pre-trip I don’t think was too much… Friday… Rode the bike home, got the loading figured out with the Prius which would be hauling Sara, myself, Mom, Shadow, Air mattress, cat cube, air pump for sister, and about 4 medium to oversized shower gifts from relatives, along with a bag each of luggage for the 3 of us and a bit of stuff for Shadow as well.
Then ran back to town, Gassed up the Prius and gave her a bath.
So trip day…
Cleaned up, loaded up, out the door around 7:45am, picked up Mom about 8 and we were off.
So, about 2 hours in we stop at a rest area. This is where things started to get interesting…
I head in, use the bathroom, zip up my shorts, but the zipper doesn’t go up the last inch. Right around this time I realize that I did not grab my shirt and khaki’s that I was going to wear for tomorrow’s shower, and I’m pretty sure Sara didn’t either. At first I think it’s kinda normal that the zipper’s not all the way up and not really noticeable. Then I think it does look a bit off, so I try harder to get it zipped up. And then. CRAP… Zipper is off… Gah… I try for a minute, but it’s not going back on. It then occurrs to me, I ought to head into a stall as opposed to standing in front of the urinals in case someone else comes in. So, I try to figure out some way to get this zipper connected to the other side. Not happening. And about 4 guys come in right then. There’s no way it’s not going to be obvious that my fly is undone. Oh, and of course, I’ve got these crappy boxers on that do not have a button or snap or anything. That boggles my mind… What exactly is the purpose of boxers that are permanently open? The whole can be oriented to the side a bit, but it’s just stupid. Either way, it only increases the anxiety of having a broken zipper. Luckily enough the polo I’m wearing is pretty long and will tuck in to cover the boxers. Then… Duh… ok, this doesn’t have to be as bad… Just UN-tuck the shirt and luck of all luck, it does cover the zipper… But of course I have no other pants or shorts with me…
So I wash my hands(It’s disgusting how often that does NOT happen in mens rooms) and head out to the car, and start trying to get the Prius GPS to tell me where I might find a Wal-mart or something along my route as I don’t want to keep this wardrobe malfunction going any longer than I have to. So we head off again, and not too far along find a Wal-Mart and do a bit of shopping and find a shirt and some new khaki shorts. And only once did Sara yank my shirt up to match it to shorts and I have to remind her I would rather not have her flashing other shoppers. I’m sure it’s normal at Wal-Mart, but not something I wish to be noted for. Of course you can’t wear the clothes out of the changing rooms, but she did say I could go buy them, and then come back and change. So that’s what I did.
No longer zipper-impaired we continued on our way. The rest of the trip was pretty uneventful. We stopped at Taco Bell for lunch and found some sort of low fat chicken burritos.
Got to sister’s apartment around 4. Neat place made in an old mill, so there are all these cool exposed beams and what not. And she’s on the 6th floor at a corner, so lots of windows and what not.
We ended up heading down to the furniture store with the imax and what not again where I was apparently getting low blood sugar because while I could figure out what to order at Fudruckers for dinner, I couldn’t quite figure out how to agree with what Sara was trying to say to share a meal, or offer any real suggestions. Just a bit mentally handicapped and ornery. But Sara handled it pretty well and I’m sure she was getting quite tired as well, and we did get food ordered and I felt a lot better after eating. We’d kept the calories pretty low so I went and got a small crunch-a-saurus dish of ice cream at Abbotts(Across from the trapeze and water show). Apparently it is blue and more or less a cake tasting ice cream with crunchy stuff, and a small is an overfilling dish. So I was trying to eat that while we were heading over to the Imax, and I was doing my best to get Sara some spoonfulls in there cause there was no way I was going to finish it quickly enough on my own. but we made it and Saw Shrek 4 there in 3D. It was very good, just not my favorite. I dunno, I love the original Shrek, but since then I’ve really just been kinda so-so on them all. Though I do love the monster gingerbread man/ghostbusters reference in the… 3rd? one…
After that it was up to the beach house and to bed.
That’s too funny about your zipper troubles. It probably wasn’t that amusing at the time though… lol

“I’m sure it’s normal for Wal-Mart” Hahahah!!

Oh gosh, Sara helping to flash you at wal mart! *runs off to peopleofwalmart to see is someone else noticed*

On the bright side, at least you were *wearing* underwear… but yes, I’ve always thought it was odd that some boxers don’t close in the front. Thank goodness for Walmart, I guess!

RYN: It’s unbelievable how hilly this area is! You get out toward Lancaster, and it’s not AS bad, but most of SE PA is one long roller coaster. I’m glad it’s not me out there!

Darn it…I read the whole entry and my minds just keeps going back to Fudruckers…sounds soo good but they all closed down around here.

These things always happen at the least convenient times don’t they? LOL
