15 years
So we made it 15 years as of yesterday. What did we do? We woke up to a cold dreary day, and headed up to Rochester to see Iron Man 2. Oh well, it was something to do. Definitely worth it. Our local theatre is like $8.50, small, dirty, dank and painful. Don’t get me wrong, it’s ok… It’s just that well, it’s not a great experience. Just ok. And for the most expensive ticket prices around besides a 3D imax movie… Well, I can’t appreciate it. And in this case, the first movie of the day in Rochester was $5. So… Even factoring in a around 110 miles of driving round trip, the tickets and gas were cheaper than the tickets would be for a non-existent matinee at our loal theatre. And that got us an awesome stadium theatre with the nice high backed reclining chairs, digital, and a screen almost as big as Imax.
I loved the movie and I think Sara liked it pretty good as well.
After that we tried to find a place to eat. Eventually we ended up at TGI Fridays for a decent lunch though it was after 2pm by that point.
Then we found a park and walked around there a bit which Shadow very much enjoyed as usual.
Then we found "ice cream world". Not as exciting as the name would suggest, but they still had good stuff. Though I got a piece of ice cream cake and it took about 20 minutes for it to thaw enough for Sara to be able to get the spoon into it. During that time she fed me bites of her sundae while we drove through some sketchy neighborhoods. Then she fed me my cake as we started to get out of the city.
Then a tiring drive home. Mostly because it was midafternoon and the weather, while not actually raining at this point was still completely overcast. I started blinking out and had Sara drive a bit, then we stopped at a greenhouse/garden center and Sara looked all over and wanted to steal a baby bunny, but she didn’t.
Then we made it home for about 5 minutes and then up to the park where it seems we are becoming members of the committee. We shall see how that goes. But for me, it made for a late night and we were there till after 8:30 and after 9 before getting home and I was ready for bed around 8.
Took a good bit of time and effort to actually get myself up this morning. My 4:20 alarm has gotten changed to 4:30, and it was I think more like 5:15 before I actually got up. All those thoughts of "Well, you could just sleep in till 7 if you wanted…" But then the nagging thoughts of "well yeah, but then you’ll be that much more short on hours later and you’ll have to make them up when you don’t want to…"
Either way… I DID actually make it up. I’ve also been listening to a Learn Japanese CD on my commute, and this morning I noticed I was definitely having trouble focusing on what the guy was saying. Doesn’t help any that the guy seems to be a moron. "Picture a knee with a cone on top and then some cheese and then say wa". Oh yeah, that’s easy to remember… At least I was going back through the first few tracks for review so I pretty well have that down anyway. I AM actually making progress.
Have to stay another half hour at work today before I can go pick up pulled pork dinners for cousin’s soccer team and then we’re getting together with aunt/uncle who are visiting from Wisconsin and all eating together (or so I believe to be the case…)
But what the heck am I doing for lunch?
Congrats on 15 years!
