The government
I have totally fell off the face of the earth. Not really. I have been exhausted, working 60 hour weeks at Cabela’s with the new store opening here in Colorado. The transition from Texas to Ohio was great, but the manager at that store was hard to work for. The transition from Ohio to Colorado has been a little rougher on me. The kids had summer break so did not have near as many friends. Corban is not with mom any more, he is with me where he belongs. Whitney (18) and a Senior at a HUGE high school just got a job. Corban and Alexandra have been good. We live in a Condo so not quite as many people around for them to play with when we were in an apartment, but they don’t complain to much. Work is great, the people I work with are great, my manager is great. I devote all my extra time right now to Cabela’s. I absolutely love it there.
The problems I have are the atmosphere. We are so high up in elevation and my heart beats faster than ever. I started chemo, but haven’t told anyone in my family. My hair is already thinning and will most likely start falling out with this second round starting tomorrow, which scares me to death.
My oldest daughter graduates in December. I had to take two weeks off of work during that time. Only the busiest time of retail, but everyone seems okay with it. I also have applied to be a pro-staff, which means I go to another store opening to help out. I applied for the one in Waco, Texas, in October, and my general manager feels that will be no problem. I am excited about this, because that is where my family lives. My kids may end up missing even more school then, but hopefully they will let them bring their work with them.
The Government has FINALLY decided that in the eyes of the law I was Darrel’s spouse and WILL receive spousal benefits. If you have read me forever you know we were divorced from 2003 on, but neither of us remarried or moved on. We were married 10 years so in the eyes of the law they consider us still married and since he passed away in 2012 I will receive his benefits.
Anyway, I am tired, just wanted to write something.
I do want to say that I had four guys from Spain come into the store today. They made an $8000 purchase, only part of it came in. However, they were going back to Spain and needed the remainder of their items. After spending 3 hours with them I was able to complete their transaction to their satisfaction. It was rough, made me want to cry, but I did the right thing and offered legendary customer service, and they left happy.
