Fudge

Today I have a headache.  I don’t know why.  I rarely get headaches, but this one has me down.  So much has been happening lately, mostly all good.  I am now a level III trained employee with Cabela’s with the exception of guns/NICS (NICS is getting verification to sell a gun).  As soon as I train in that area I will be considered a level III, which is basically a manager.  On Wednesday I did a food handler/health class for OHIO.  It lasted about five hours.  I learned some very interesting topics, things I did not know about food spoilage, etc.  I wasn’t required to take the class.  I was not asked to take the class.  I volunteered.  They allow us to get certifications or training wherever needed as long as we do not have another area we need to work in.  The store isn’t opened yet, so there isn’t a sense of urgency in any area.  I was excited to get the health certificate even though I do not make or serve food or work in the food industry.  With the health certificate, on Thursday I got to help the Deli people learn to and make fudge.  It was exciting.  I would have never been able to do that without the certificate.  It is kind of funny though, I was the only one not trained for Deli, and I am the only one that followed the health guidelines.  I spoke to Smokey the manager and told him "they need to wash their hands before putting on gloves" and "she needs to put her hair in a pony or net, as it is long and getting in the food"  He listened.  He likes me and treats me as though I am one of the managers even though I am only a cashier.

I spoke to Jim the district manager today, and the Human Resource Manager, because I was hired for a position and have not been placed in that position even though I moved from TX to take on other responsibilities.  I have not complained or said anything, but now that I have trained in every area of the store, and done additional training I do not feel it is fair for them to hold me back.  Jim is a rockstar though and listened to every word and already has started making things happen for me.  I love Cabela’s.  It is a great place to work.  If you have one near or around you I suggest applying if you do not have a job.  They treat their employees with more respect even then their customers.

I work with a guy I call the hottie from the back.  Yes, I know his name, but for now Hottie is fine.  I like him.  I have told my best friend here that he has to be gay to be talking to me (I believe he really is gay).  But, when I see him I can’t help but smile.  Yes, this is a crush, but it is a good one, and I enjoy our friendship.

I have more to say, but for now this is good.  I will try to write more soon.

Almost forgot, I never heard back about the Senior Position in Colorado, but those positions have not yet been filled and I still have hopes of hearing back from the manager.
