Off to the races

Slept in until 6am, making a cup of coffee and then hitting the road.  Today is a busy day.  Going with Brad to start registration for college classes in Fire science this morning, wish us luck.  Picking up the grandkids for some quality time about 11am and then at two, Brian has a job interview.
Still annoyed over the traffic stop night before last.  Brandon called to lecture me about causing him embarrassment by being intoxicated in public.  Told him that the officer was mistaken and I had not been drinking.  He felt the need to call his brother to verify my side of the story, which ticked me off.  If there’s one thing my kids know about me, it’s that I value honesty above all else and that I don’t lie.  He called back and asked me if I told Brad to cover for me and I got a little snippy with him over it.   Reminded him that he has never seen me take more than one drink, and then only at home, never in public, nor have I ever felt the need to lie about what I do with my life.
I also told him, that despite his oversized ego, life hasn’t gotten to the point where he can dictate my actions; I am still the parent, and grown or not, he is the son and he will behave accordingly.  He did apologize, but I can’t believe the gall it took for him to actually call and try to chastise me. KIDS!
However, despite this small aggravation, things have been going well here.  The house is reasonably clean, the lawn is tended and the bills are paid.  The kids are doing well, and everyone is healthy, so I have little to complain about.
I also reconnected with two cousins I had lost touch with over the years, and we are planning a family reunion in the fall, with as many of our kids and grandkids as we can get to come.  After our parents all passed away, and then our grandmother, we all drifted apart down through the years and I haven’t seen these two and their brother since their father passed away in 1990, just six weeks before my mother passed.   As kids our extended family was very close, so it will be good to see each other and catch up on the last couple of decades.

Well, time to get dressed and get moving.  All of you have a great day!

Recently I asked my Daughter if she’d be been drinking w/her pain pills after a recent surgery, she was livid and I didn’t understand, but I do now…I felt I was just being upfront, she did say she appreciated my honesty (afterwards) but I hurt her feelings. Just getting that now..

Your son probably didn’t really believe you’d been drinking. He was probably just winding you up!
