Settled

Before the dust even settled
we already had
into a lust mislabeled love;
rested entwined futures
on miscalculations while we
rested entwined exchanging
promises of permanence that
have left us permanently
darkened
by what we couldn’t upkeep

so here we are but mere shadows
of a former us awaiting luminence
to guide us asunder
