camping

A little sun on me feels weird. I haven’t been on the river for almost 10 years. It was just as I remembered it. Riverish, very riverish!

The campsite was pretty much the same also. Someone ran off with our shed. Not that it’s a big deal because it was busted anyway. The picnic table was gone too, but it wasn’t worth very much.

The piece de resistance, the platform, it’s another story. Some tree decided that it didn’t like standing upright. The tree thought our platform looked like a much better landing point; right smack in the middle. It was really amusing. The platform was warped anyway so the tree helped us out!

It only took about an hour and a half to get to the grounds. There wasn’t too much growth, leaving very little clean up. It was hot as hec though, let me tell you. Hot, hot, hot. Muggy and sticky too. Oh and let’s not forget the mosquitos. They all insisted I be lunch, dinner, and evening snack.

After the clean up, my folks offered to take us rafting, since there was only the two of us. We were going to canoe, but I couldn’t paddle. The rafting itself was pretty calm. The Merimac was rather low. We did have our laughs, though.

Tim found one of those pool body float thingies and decided to swim his way down most of the river. The rest of us each had turns, but Tim was on it most of the time. To think that he wonders why his back hurts ;-p

Tim and I went back to the grounds to camp Saturday night. We got the tent up without any trouble and had a simple dinner. They’re were no smores because it was just too hot to have a fire. I forgot how much I don’t like sleeping on a sloped ground. Can we say sore back? But it was nice to have had the experience.

Tim loves the land. He can’t wait to go back and start cleaning it up some more. It’s a lot larger than he’s used to and he loves the privacy. We’re really hoping that everyone can make it out next time. We figure we’ll got back every couple of weeks or so to get things where we want to. That’s all hoping anyway.

Well I’ve got some stuff to do before I go to work. Hope everyone’s enjoying themselves.
