Because THAT Made Sense…
So I went to Cabela’s recently to return a gift my brother had gotten me for Christmas. He got me this really cool coat, in red. It was designed with ‘Omni-Heat’ and it is supposed to be super warm. But he got me a size large, and apparently that wasn’t large enough. I guess he was under the impression that since I’ve been going to the gym for a couple of months, it means that my boobs shrank or something. Little does he know it doesn’t quite work that way.
He gave me the gift receipt and everything, so I took the 45 minute drive out there and figured I would return it and get something else. Wait in line, get to the desk. And the girl tells me that because it was purchased in the ‘Bargain Cave,’ it couldn’t be returned. ‘It had a sticker that said ‘No Refunds’ on it, but it was clearly removed.’
TO which I replied, ‘But I have a gift receipt.’
And while she understood that I had a gift receipt, that was their store policy and I was going to have to keep the jacket. She said ‘Sorry, but there’s nothing I can do,’ and called the next customer.
So I left. Angry. Unfulfilled.
Got home and I called them. Because – seriously now – why would you issue a gift receipt for something that is non-returnable, non-refundable, non-excahngeable? The whole point of a gift receipt is so that you can give it to a person so they can return it if there is a problem with the item. Why would you give one to somebody if you won’t honor it? (That is horse shit.)
And the woman I spoke to on the phone was extremely apologetic. She asked me how far I had come out from, I told her, she apologized again and told me that when I come back they will honor that gift receipt (Because duh) and give me an additional 20$ gift card for my trouble. Which was pretty sweet.
I went back out there yesterday before I went to work. Got there first thing in the morning, returned it with no issues. And they gave me cash because Joey had paid for the jacket with his debit card. Sweet deal or what? I almost just took the cash and left it at that. But then I figured Joey went through the trouble to actualy find me something that I liked (which I did. That was an awesome jacket.) I should probably find something that I like to make up for that. Especially since he liked me so much he paid almost 100$ for it.
I found this really warm, really fuzzy, really comfy Under Armor pullover. Its got a 1/4 zip and really long sleeves. Which I really enjoy, because I’m really tall and thus have long arms. It is so hard to find a comfy fuzzy thing that fits in the body, but has sleeves long enough that come down to cover most of your hands. Love it! And its cream colored!
There wasn’t anything else there struck my fancy. It wasn’t exactly the same value as the jacket, so I did end up pocketing some of the cash. I don’t feel too badly about it because it also bought me lunch. (Thanks for the awesome pullover, Joey! And for lunch! lol)
Overall, it wasn’t a terrible experience. But this clearly just goes to show that if something doesn’t sit right with you, you should always ask someone about it. I’m glad I called and I didn’t get stuck with something that I would never be able to use.
Knitting with my girls tomorrow! Can’t wait! I’m cooking delicious things for dinner!
ALW
Glad you got the jacket changed. By the way what are you knitting?
