Trying to Get in the Spirit

I got a ton of things accomplished today. Jess was feeling lightheaded and vertigo today, so we didn’t go to the gym. We’re rescheduled for Friday, so that works out well. Since I got out early from work today, I had a lot of extra time on my hands, so I did some Christmas shopping. Mostly for Sam’s family, because Sam is the king of all last minute shoppers. Last year he waited until two days before Christmas to start his shopping. Two. Days. We were with the crazy cranky people shopping on Christmas Eve. That was bullshit. And if it were up to Sam, he would be doing that again this year, too. Sorry, love. Not happening.

So I took it upon myself to brave the throngs of people in the mall, and the masses at Walmart. All on my lonesome. I actually got a lot accomplished. I got something for Aunt Jeanne and Nana. His cousin Elizabeth, and his second cousins, Ben and Caleb. That’s all done. I also picked up a couple of shirts for Joey, Christopher, and Sam.

And when I got home, there were packages from Amazon waiting on the doorstep. So I was pretty stoked.

So now all that is left is his Uncle Brian, cousin Sarah, and Aunt Eunie, and his cousin’s wife, Laura. I’m pretty sure we’ll be giving them candle things. Not Brian. But all the ladies will be.

As you can see, I was very proud of myself and all of my shopping. I got half of his shopping done in one fell swoop. I was so excited for Sam to come home so I could show him how well I did, and guess what happened?

He was a huge bear and acted like a douchebag when I told him how excited I was that I almost finished shopping for his family. He doesn’t want to see anything. Doesn’t care. And when I reminded him that Christmas was 13 days away, he stormed off in a huff.

I don’t even know where that came from. He can be grumpy when he gets home from work sometimes, especially if it were a stressful day. But that was absolutely ridiculous. He kind of took the excitement right out me. Oh well. Maybe I’ll find it again later.

Not cool, Sam. Next year you should do the same thing, but wait until Dec. 23rd to tell him. Then maybe he’ll be more grateful. *HUGS* Love,
