Getting Easier
Jess and I have been going to the gym for two weeks now. And not only does that feel good, but I’m finding it is getting easier to get the exercises done. I usually do about a half hour to forty minutes on the elliptical trainer to start. Just last week, I felt winded halfway through and would have to stop for a minute. But this week I can push through that whole forty minutes or so without stopping. (Yay me!) After that I get in some light strength training: Chest press, overhead press, leg press, and rowing. I should probably start doing more pulling exercises, but I don’t think I’m ready for that yet. Pushing is easier than pulling for me, so start with what you know you can do and work your way up, right? After my work on the machines, I go back to the elliptical for another twenty to twenty-five minutes. I really enjoy the cardio!
In the spring Sam and I are going to start going to the rock climbing gym in Wallingford with Tine and Chris. I think that will help a whole lot in terms of prepping for Katahdin next summer. I’m really looking forward to it.
On our Second Thanksgiving I finished the hat I had started for my cousin Bryan. I need to take a picture of it and then send it to him. He’s going to school at Appalachian State, and he says it gets pretty darn cold up there in the mountains. Its red with a beige stripe in the middle. I had my brother, Christopher, try it on before he went back to school. I had to make sure it would fit a guy’s head okay. I always seem to make men’s hats too small and need to re-cast them several times before I get it right. But this one I nailed the first time.
I’ve also cast on pretty much the same hat but in fuschia for Sam’s cousin Elizabeth. I think she’s really going to like it. And I’m more than halfway finished with it.
Tomorrow: Post Office to mail Hat #1 out. Police Station to pick up Pistol Permit applications. Clean more of the house. Knit. Got to Meg’s. And knit some more.
It is going to be a busy day tomorrow! Looking forward to it, though.
