Progress

Since I’ve last written, Jess and I have been to the gym three times. We’re going to do two days a week at minimum. Either Monday and Wednesday or Monday and Thursday. This week, we’re doing Monday, Wednesday and Friday. We figured if we’re going to join the gym right before a major holiday, we might as not completly undo everything we had already worked for. (All three days of it.) So we went tonight, so we could earn the amount of food we’re going to eat tomorrow. And we’re going to go on Friday: To work it all off again. Eventually, we want to have a three-day-a-week schedule.

We’re doing pretty well, so far. We both picked up little notebooks so we could write down and keep track of all of the exercises that we do while we’re there. And then we go home and log all of that progree on Fitocracy. Its a website that is focused on fitness, but works like a game. You track all of the exercise you do, get points for it, and level up. Getting points and gaining levels while getting healthy? Its the perfect thing for someone who likes to game. And wants to not jiggle quite so much when they walk.

I really like to do the ellipticle. I love that it has a ‘Hill’ setting. In addition to trying to get (close to) an hour of cardio in every time I get to the gym, I also do a little bit of strength training. Mostly where my upper body is concerned. As I may or may not have mentioned previously: I do not have any upper body strength. I don’t know how I’m going to get to the top of Katahdin when I can barely lift myself. I don’t know how I got as far as what I did on that first try! (I pushed myself with my legs, that’s how.) But that will change over the year.

I’m hoping that having Jess as a gym buddy, we’ll be able to motivate each other a little more as time goes on and we don’t want to work out as much. I’m still looking forward to the three days a week goal, though.

A did a really scary thing today! My Big Red Blanket (previously mentioned numerous times)  has finally gone into the wash! It was scary putting int he washer. It was scarier putting it into the dryer. I’m really hoping that I won’t have a giant tangled mass of red yarn waiting for me later. This is my (current) worst fear, because I was a dumb butt and didn’t take a picture of the completed project before I tossed it into the laundry.

But just to be clear: This is not my normal routine for knitted things. I take better care of my hand knitted garments. However, this blanket was made out of acrylic yarn, and was intended as a gift. And it is a blanket. I know my brother is not, under any circumstance, going to hand wash his knitted things. Least of all, a blanket. I figured, it was machine washable and dryable, and I know this is how he going to wash it when it gets dirty. So I might as well test its durability before I give it to him. I know if I don’t, he’s going to. And I don’t want it to fall apart on him. I don’t think he would ever tell me if something like that happened. But I don’t want to do that to him. Its my job to make sure he can care for it properly.

Its still scary as fuck.

Thanksgiving is tomorrow! Gobble Gobble! Looking forward to it. My pie just came out of the oven a little while ago. Tomorrow I’m working until 1pm, then I’m coming home to change and pick up Sam, and then we’re going to jet over to NY State and see my grandparents. I’m hoping tomorrow is going to be good!

Christopher has even decided to come to dinner! So looking forward to it. I haven’t seen both of my brothers at the same time since June.

Tah for now!
