Addendum

It occurred to me, after I originally posted the previous entry, that I forgot to mention another criticism I have regarding Muslim protesting, and that’s a criticism not of Muslims at all, but of Americans. So, I’ll add one more thing, which is this. There are some things that don’t help the world’s opinion of Americans, specifically the Muslim world. These include:

a.    Stupid comments made by politicians (re: Mitt Romney and other Republicans)
b.    Stupid comments on the Internet. Here’s an example:

–    “Really? If our president had any BALLS at all, this could have been rectified very easily. But he is more Muslim than anything himself, so what do we expect! Muslims can say anything about Americans and burn our flag with NO recourse – and you say go after the one dude??? You are twisted.”

–    “Exactly. This is why FREE SPEECH must never be silenced. If these bastards have their way, we will all lose our heads.”

–    “eat shit you filthy muslim pigs. America can destroy you if we want. The best thing for this world would be to exterminate all you fuckin sand niger motherfuckers. Mohammed is a filthy dog and gets fucked in the ass by camels. Muslim women fuck dogs”

–    “obama is a muslim, and his mission is to bring about the destruction of America. That is why he MUST be replaced.”

I could also talk about U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East, its friendship with Israel, and the aggressive U.S. militant posturing, drone strikes in sovereign nations, foreign aid to promote U.S. interests, etc. I don’t think the U.S. is entirely innocent when it comes to reasons why other countries might exhibit reasonable frustration at my country. This shouldn’t justify violent protests, though.

It’s sad that people like that have the ability to note.

I guess you missed Obama’s stupid comment about not knowing if Egypt is our ally or not. no wonder he’d rather keep quiet! So you think Republicans shouldn’t be allowed to make any comment about the situation? you’re a real champion of free speech, Hon.

Hey! Good eye on the villa. The Much ado about nothing villa is “villa vignamaggio” and is about 30 minutes south of where I”m staying at “villa il poggiale”. I checked it out, but felt it was just a hair too pricey. i added you to the friends list, browse about and enjoy. Thanks!
