Woke up late again this morning. Haven’t been sleeping well at night for awhile. Part of that is due to Terry’s snoring. Right now he has a small cold and it’s even worse.
Just last week, we decided …that word “we” is the humorous part….that serious action needs to occur regarding this noise. He seriously could wake the dead. I have to always wear earplugs and sometimes one or both ears get really sore and it’s painful.
So we got some of those little things that go across his nose…they seemed to help some and he says he feels he breathes better with them. Then this cold set in and it’s back to earplugs. But we’ll continue to pursue other alternatives to help with the snoring.

I had encouraged Terry to go to a movie today…He enjoys them and I’m too picky to just see anything like he does. He also likes to get a cup of coffee after the movie (at the mall) and sit and people-watch. Me, not so much….I get twitchy and too many people are not my thing…he’s the total opposite.
We’d had a LOT of Together-Time in the last few weeks….he gave his karate students and their parents 3 weeks off for the holidays so he’s been around a lot. And it’s not been bad, it’s just that I need alone time. Normally,he teaches 4 days a week, totally volunteering his time so that the fees go straight to the YMCA. Karate is his love and he’ll probably be teaching for a very long time.

So today, since the studio isn’t finished….it will be in the next few days, I promise myself….I went with my usual MO and watched old movies that I record and crochet afghans while watching. Gave 3 of them as Christmas presents this year. I love my old movies…found that I prefer them from 1940 to 1960….very few before or after those years. Just love the 40’s and 50s. And I like very few movies today. Maybe because I know too much about the stars, the background of movies and all the garbage that goes with all that. And I can’t watch movies when I’ve read the book because the book is always better. So I’m happy with my oldies. Every month I check out TMC’s monthly schedule and set up my DVR.
But today when I turned on the TV, Meet Joe Black was on and I watched it thru the end. Anthony Hopkins is such a great actor. Brad Pitt was a beautiful young man with very bad skin….seen on a big flat screen with HD…..but I’m sure he’s taken care of that now. Shed the requisite tears…what a good man that character (Anthony’s) was.

I could relax today with a pot roast in the slow cooker…..love that appliance. Made Terry a happy man with a full tummy, and me, happy to have leftovers. Even gave my daughter one for Christmas…at her request.

Just a nice quiet New Year’s Day, here in the foothills of Pasadena…..can hear far away pieces of the Rose Parade about a mile away, then the hum of the blimp over the Rose Bowl, lots of small planes carrying advertising banners buzzing all of it….later on the sounds of people/cars as they pay entrance fees to look at the floats up close where they are parked just down the hill from us.
Have done all of it but probably won’t again but great memories.
