Monday Stuff
Tomorrow…….well, actually today, I plan on spending a lot of time at that hospital (where I’ve spent a lot of time this year!) only this time I’ll be in the waiting room, next to the labor rooms, next to the delivery rooms.
Yep, Max will be here on August 8. Daughter’s doctor has become a little concerned by her high Blood Pressure readings and a lot of edema of her legs/ankles/feet so want to induce labor Monday.
We spent a lot of time, on Friday, picking up last minute baby items at Target, per her instructions. She’s supposed to be resting…not really on bed rest orders but not doing anything much. Pretty soon into our shopping event, Terry gets a call, asking if he could pick her up and take her to Target. He’ll do practically anything for her so he did. Glad she came. Better for the mom, than the Grandma to make the choices when there are options.
Took everything to their new house, I did laundry of tiny little boy clothes while Terry put together a little dresser drawers to house the tiny little boy clothes.
I’m taking my latest book and my crochet project (Christmas afghans for relatives). If I’m asked to join her in the labor room, I’ll be there. She asked if I felt I should be in the delivery room with her and her husband. I said no, it’s probably something a new mom and dad should share together. She seemed relieved at that answer. I could tell they wanted to be together but she was afraid she might hurt my feelings.
This afternoon, I started making food for them to be frozen and used when they need/want it. I’ve got a few more days of cooking for this purpose but am enjoying it a lot. Haven’t really cooked much except when we invited friends over for very casual summer dinners. Then made dinner/breakfast for us of Denver omelettes, freshly baked French bread (toast) and a double stuffed potato (for Terry – the cooked/frozen item of the day)and finished off with watermelon.
Terry looked very happy…he’s got his chef/wife back. I really enjoy cooking…far more than I like eating. But it’s especially nice when you have a man who gratefully washes up every pot, pan, utensil, etc. He’s very easily pleased re food but truly loves when I get all involved in a delicious meal.
The double stuffed potatoes I made were from one of my favorite cookbooks, The Pioneer Woman. That woman sure knows how to cook for a man….everything I’ve ever made from her, has sent Terry into Eating Heaven. These potatoes have lots of cheese, bacon, sour cream and butter and I plan on storing them in a way that my daughter and son in law can pull out one, two or as many as they like without having to defrost the whole thing.
Tomorrow (or Tuesday) I’ll make the Pioneer Woman’s Comfort Meatballs, that are truly wonderful. They are so good that I’ve actually seen men-friends go back for seconds, thirds and fourths! She says they are perfect for ravenous nursing moms. Later on this week, I’ll make some baked ziti which is one of the daughter’s favorites.
And then who knows what else I’ll cook.
It sure feels good to feel good.
I’m very happy with my Xanax. I take it every 3-4 days and enjoy spending these days now with my old self, whom I hadn’t seen for awhile. I had gradually forgotten who I was and what a goofball I usually am. But it feels like being with an old friend.
Although my hair seems to be falling out…a lot lately. I’ve Googled it and it seems to be common after serious illnesses/traumas/stress, etc. Hope it stop soon.
