Update

Okay, again it’s been quite awhile since I’ve been here. So how come so long??
I haven’t a clue. Let’s see what’s been going on:

The damnable sinus infection.
– seemed a lot better/actually cured when I saw the PA at my doctor’s office who prescribed a week’s worth of antibiotics. But like a lot of infections, a week’s worth didn’t do the trick so back I went to my doctor. He felt I should have had a two week antibiotic fight with the sinus infection so he gave me K-Flex, 4 times a day @ 500 mg. Seemed to kick that infection right in the butt because those symptoms are gone. Only problem is that I seem to sleep 12 hours at a time. Doctor’s office today said they’ve never heard of that as a side effect. Ok, that noted but it seems to be happening right around the time I started the meds and nothing else has changed. Will speak to doctor tomorrow as he was out today and only spoke to his nurse. Yes, I want all infections and symptoms gone but I’m not happy with a diminished life that I’m left with after sleeping away the day! Sorry if it doesn’t fit into the norm of what these meds do. I wanted to quit them altogether but Terry had a fit, saying you thought you could get well all by yourself when you had the heart virus and you couldn’t. He has a point. I always think I can control everything with mind over matter but sometimes I’m wrong. Hate that. But I’ll see if I can get a change in meds tomorrow when the doctor is back.

New dog in town:
– Since Jack, our oldest, 10 1/2 yrs, is in remission from his cancer, we have been looking for another dog. It’s always heartbreaking when you lose a pet but we’re thinking that if we had 3 dogs then when one dies, at least there wouldn’t be one lonely broken-hearted dog, like Jack was when Joey died. Got in touch with a woman who finds homes for rescued/abandoned dogs thru a friend. She had an abandoned Border Collie who needed a home. We “passed” the home inspection and our dogs took to the Collie very well , so he’s been with us since Saturday. Adorable black and white dog, definitely shows that he’s been abandoned because he needs at least one of us around at all times. We found out that he’s smart enough to open our side yard gate and get out when we leave. Luckily, he’s stayed near and greeted us upon return. Terry has since wired the gate shut and we’ll be installing a more dog-proof latch on that gate. The rescue lady brought a dog trainer friend with her who put us through all kinds of lessons to avoid problems with the new dog and our other dogs. So far, our other dogs have acted like “ok, so now we have another roommate. ” And for that, we’re very grateful. The new dog, Gus, is only 2 years old like our Lacy, who has a lot of energy and needs a friend to run/romp with. We, personally, prefer large adult dogs, and hopefully those that need a home.

Summer:
– Amazing weather this year. Maybe once for a day or two, we had temps in the 90’s, almost 100. But so far, it’s been lovely spring weather and absolutely unheard of for this area. Excuse me while I find some wood to knock on. In recent years, I now dread September and October in So Cal. Seems every year there are more and more wildfires that destroy so much. The worst part is that they are usually arson.
Of course, it doesn’t help that we live in the foothill/canyon type of area near the mountains where most of the fires occur. It’s a fear all of us have every year but we live here because of the beauty of nature, the peacefulness, etc that is hard to find among the crazy life in So Cal. I love the weather in California. I love all there is to do here. I love being close to oceans, mountains, deserts, etc but I can’t say I still love California like I used to. It’s becoming a strange, weird state with strange weird people full of concrete, streets, cars, too many people and just crowded everywhere. Maybe I’m just getting old and it always was strange but it sure seems more so now.

Wasted time:
I have already admitted I watch trashy reality TV while I crochet but now it’s gone even further. I found a web site where “we” get to “talk” about all these trashy shows. Not only talk but do some real life “sleuthing” about the shows, like The Bachelor/Bachelorette. I used to watch those shows and at one time, truly believed I was seeing a fairy tale in the making. Or not. But I have since learned that many “reality” shows are scripted and edited for various reasons. Often, even naive, me can see that and I am no longer a true believer but I still watch. This website really takes on shows like The Bachelor where there’s an unknown ending and does some pretty good detective sleuthing. They rely on screen caps that show hands, finger, rings, shirts, hats, sightings of the main characters, , etc, etc. to solve the mystery of who will be picked. I used to just “lurk” (see, I now know some cyber-speak) but finally decided to start posting my opinions/guesses and have had a great time doing so. Other shows, Iike Housewives of Whatever City, we mostly just express that we can hardly believe how some people will air their dirty laundry to the whole world.
I suppose in one sense, I am wasting my time but in another sense, maybe just enjoying something harmless is what it’s all about.
