More Vacation
I’m noticing that I’m doing a lot better, having Terry being away that I ever used to. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m in this wonderful house that is truly “home” to me or because I’m fully directing the events that are happening during my Stay-cation. Either way, I’m very pleased.
Went Wednesday to my friends’ house for her birthday dinner. She called and asked if I could come a little earlier while the twins’ napped, so she could run and get a pedicure. Since I had just got one myself the day before, I could completely relate to wanting to rid yourself of those “toe claws.” Nowdays, nail polish stays on so well and being old and unable to see as well as I used to, when I look down, they don’t look so bad. But when you hesitate to not wear open toe shoes for fear of poking a hole in the toe, it’s time to get them done. So I went early and was rewarded with the twins’ delight to see ol’ Grammy there. The dinner went well, catching up on their family members. We’ve all become so close in recent years and I had a great time. Left at 8 PM, which they protested was too early and I”m thinking, no, it’s really late.
Spent another wonderful time at Thursday’s art class. Finished my Kincaidesque painting and am starting another. Once again, I’m reminded that I will never again put my class time at the bottom of the to-do list because of how much I love being there. Even doing the sappy painting, I realize that I’m still learning new things with every canvas. I love laughing and joking with my friends and our teacher. Because I love Impressionism (style) and it’s what I do best so I’m taking these corny scenes and “impressionizing” it, just helped me all the more.
Later, that day my daughter came to spend time with me. She always makes it a point to come visit when Terry’s away. I don’t know why and I don’t care. I love her company. We planned on watching the final part of the Real Housewives of NYC together. Watched that, which is sooooooo much better when you have someone with you to say “Did you see that?!!!” Then we watched the last part of the Lakers/Celtics game, something I normally would never do. We ended up having giggling fests and an awfully good time. She was very surprised I knew what went on at a basketball game. Just because I don’t watch sports doesn’t mean I don’t know how they’re played, silly girl. But she probably didn’t remember that we had basketball games during the Ice Age or Jurassic Period.
She left around 11 PM, with instructions to call when she got home, due to her mother’s worry about any riots/bad behavior of fans of the Lakers but figured, since they won, it wouldn’t be too bad. My brother, Mr. Small Town, North Carolina wrote me how horrible the reaction in LA was & I’m thinking we didn’t think it was very bad at all, considering all the riots, etc we have had out here. Perspective is everything, I guess.
Today I got my hair done, a trim and grey-touch up. so much easier to have blonde hair when you’ve got a lot of grey. I wouldn’t mind having dark hair again but I’m way too lazy to put up with all it takes to keep it looking nice. In my mind, blonde and grey blend together so I can basically ignore it for long periods of time.
Then I took a nap because I’ve been having some seriously painful sinus problems for the last few days. It didn’t help the sinus pain but it sure felt lovely.
Terry’s having a wonderful time and really enjoying being with his dad. I’m so glad he’s had this opportunity. His dad will be 84 next month, acts about 60 and life is short. Now, he’s all excited about working with dad on the wood working projects that they bought wood for there. Who knew there were so many different kinds of fancy wood? It sounds like I’ll have to look at a million photographs after he returns. Just one of the jobs of a loving dutiful wife but I don’t mind, especially since he’s having such a great time.
I have nothing planned for tomorrow so that seems like a perfect painting day to me. This is the longest Terry has been gone and I dreaded it but it’s turning out to be quite nice. I’m one lucky lady.
here again we match……being blonde from birth my gray stripes are better hidden than dark ones and i can let the dye job go for longer periods; esp when it’s sunny out since it all relightens again. most people can’t tell im gray unless i show them the inch roots lol glad you’re time alone is good; can i see the kincaid painting when you’re done?

Many thanks for your kind words. Glad you are enjoying your vacation as much as Terry seems to be. You seem much more at peace lately.
