Rain

I love rainy days. Every summer, I pray the winter will be cold and rainy. I like seasons and we normally don’t have much of a change our here. Usually it either sunny and lovely or sunny and too hot. I also like sweaters and warm comfy lounge-around clothes and fat socks.

This year with the help of El Nino, we finally got winter out here. Lots of cool weather and heaps of rain.

When I first walked into this house, during our house hunting, the first thing I thought of when I saw the floor to ceiling windows was the delightful idea of a grey rainy day, sitting near the windows with a good book, maybe a fire in the fireplace and no where to go and nothing to do.

Unfortunately, the law of the land here is “when it rains, go inside” and I think it’s posted on all the tunnels of every single ant home. At first, I was understanding and resisted Terry’s suggestion of having exterminators come out and spray everything possible. As a result of past experiences with ants, they come and they go. These ants didn’t get that memo.
They came, they saw and they want to conquer. I am no longer kind and understanding. We all have our limits and I’ve reached mine. Soon the rains will be gone and I can’t remember having them this late in the year. We shouldn’t see anymore until maybe January 2011. I’ll be glad to see the last of the little buggers. Maybe next winter should begin with a visit from the exterminator. Although I have a feeling by then I’ll have forgotten how annoying they are.
As far as I’m concerned, El Nino can leave now and bring back my warm sunny days without ants. I’m a little tired of my sweaters also and spring colors are calling my name from the stores.
