Helping the “Lost Generation” Find it’s Voice

I was reading the diary of a favorite and for the second time in a week I heard my Generation referred to as “The Lost Generation” So I could no longer sit by and through my silence perpetuate the nonsense that is going on. I was talking to a friend the other day. (I will not name him for the purposes of this entry.) He was once more going on about how he is all for this war and we should fight. Might makes right. So forth and so on. I wasn’t really listening as this is a tirade I had heard before and had no interest in hearing again. Then something that he said caught my ear and got me to thinking. He is all for this war as long as they don’t re institute the draft.

Well whoopee for you. I wonder how many other people feel that way. This was is all fine and good as long as I don’t have to fight in it. As long as I don’t have to die. Never mind that your neighbors and your countryman and other people countryman have to die. To bad for them. It’s all for a “good cause.” All these people paying lip service to something they don’t believe in enough to go fight for themselves. So I had an idea

I say we re institute the draft. We can give the “Lost Generation” something to stand up for. Something they can really believe in THE RIGHT TO LIVE. Not just their life but the life of everyone else who has needlessly died. And for what? We needed someone to point the finger at and Iraq was a convenient target. One more thing for those of you who say I am unamerican or unpatriotic screw you. I love my country. I love my countryman. I feel for all the soldiers in Iraq and hope they return safely, but I don’t believe in what we are doing.

So there I have said my piece. If you don’t like it don’t read it. This is a “Free Country.” Right? Right.

I wish our country truly was “free”. We’re Free-er than we were, but no where near free.

I’ve learned that there are three things to never discuss with people: Politics, religion and The Great Pumpkin.

Re-institute the draft,Im all for it. Its sad whats happening in Iraq. The bombings seems never ending. I feel for those families who lost someone in Iraq.

90% of the woman over there want to kill themselves. that’s so much. and these are grown woman. When most of them were asked why they stayed alive, most said becuase they have a duaghter of their own. Who the hll are we to just stand around and let something like that happen? that is my Xfemime side… these people will never fight for themselves, they dont know they can. I’m not say a point…

of view but rather something to think about. everyone has had help in revolution, we had France. Yet the counties who haven’t had help have been in civil wars for 100s of years. but i am not saying really anything, but it is something to think about
