Last Words from Grandma

Life starts and eventually ends –  this is a process in Mother Nature no one can deny. I believe there is a time for everything – a time to be born and a time to die.

My grandmother’s life story came to an end at the age of 92. I am blessed that my grandmother’s funeral today was filled with ‘love’ – something I have never learned seriously but taken for granted. Her life story told me vividly…

  • Love is unconditional and attaches no rewards in return.
  • Love is about forgiveness.
  • Love can’t wait but should be expressed in time, not at a time at own convenience.
  • Love own family and the people around.

After years of climbing the social ladder, I have been completely lost. I have lost the basic instinct to express love to others. I have attached no importance to love in my life. I have worked and lived in my own way.

Grandma exemplified how she expressed unconditional love perfectly in her past 92 years through solid actions. She struggled to make ends meet but still prepared the best for her 11 children in times of war, poverty and hardships. She cared about all her grandchildren even though she did not meet most of them often. She paid attention to every person she met, and even the flowers and the birdies she saw in the park…

“For I am even now being offered, and my end is near. I have fought the good fight; I have come to the end of my journey; I have kept the faith.” (II Timothy 4:6-7)

Grandma, I miss you but it is high time you deserved the well-earned rest in heaven. At the very last time, I am blessed that you have reminded me of the wisdom of life ~ love others before it is too late.

This is a beautiful entry, and I find love within your words as you reflect upon your grandmother’s life.

@adrift

Thank you for your kind words. I miss Grandma and I regret I have missed the right time to express my love to her. I do hope everyone will not make the same mistake as I did and we will not put off until tomorrow what we can express today.
