Living in Sin/Bird Attack
Living in Sin
I am notoriously stubborn when it comes to electricity usage. Growing up, my parents always seemed to have every light and television on in the house, but it was their electricity bill. Once I moved out on my own I became very stingy with my power usage. I’ve lived in 6 apartments/condos/townhouses since I moved out on my own in 2005 and most of them were difficult to keep at comfortable temperatures without running heat or air conditioning 24/7 so I learned to live without. I prefer open windows and box fans to shelling out hundreds of dollars a month to Dayton Power & Light for the convenience and comfort of air conditioning.
But everybody has their limit and I reached mine on the night of Memorial Day. I tried to sleep in my 91 degree apartment and had a very uncomfortable night. At midnight I gave in and turned on the air conditioner, but the cool air had problems getting around the corner into my bedroom despite strategically placed box fans. So I moved in with Bobby the next day.
So far things are going pretty well. I’m becoming more and more domesticated, making dinners, doing laundry, cleaning up around the house. It’s kind of interesting that I don’t mind doing it so much for Bobby. It’s more fulfilling to clean up a home knowing that someone else is there to appreciate it. Now that I have a completely different routine I’m trying to break bad habits and start new good habits. I need to shed the happy weight I’ve accumulated over the past few months since I’ve broken my personal weight threshold of 130 pounds. Need to tone and tighten so I rock my bikini in Maui next summer.
Bird Attack
Yesterday I was leaving work with my co-worker Lindsey when something traumatizing happened. As we exited the elevator on the ground floor a gigantic bird flew past me and scared the living crap out of me! I lunged away from it, knocking Lindsey’s water all over her, and cowered by the vending machine laughing and crying uncontrollably, unable to catch my breath. The big bird then landed around the corner and watched as I walked by. It was hilarious and terrifying all at the same time.
Birds can be so scary! They always seem to have a hard time watching where they are going. Or maybe they do it on purpose! Crazy birds.
