When it Rains it Pours…

So much crap going on right now. If it weren’t for Bobby I’d be letting this upset me much more.

First my car stopped working again. Last weekend it died in Bobby’s driveway and it took him two whole days to figure out what was wrong and fix it. Luckily he’s amazing and was able to diagnose the problem and repair it for minimal money. Somehow there’s a bad connection between the alternator and the battery, but it’s very difficult, timely, and costly to fix it so he was able to make his own connection using some wire and some other pieces from the hardware store. It looks like it’s supposed to be there. He’s awesome. 🙂

Then my cat stopped eating and started looking even more like a Holocaust survivor. I took her to the vet and he charged me $88 to tell me to change her diet. She weighs 5lbs 6oz which is pretty skinny for her even though she’s a tiny cat to begin with. He prescribed some pills and some liquid Amoxicillin as well as some prescription wet food by Science Diet. She throws a fit when I try to get her to take the medicine and somehow finds it when I try to hide it in the food (which she has been devouring). About 30 minutes ago she spit the pink liquid medicine all over the only pair of capris that somewhat fits me (like my cat I’m losing weight…I tried on some capris at Kohl’s today and the size 3 fit). So I had to stain stick those and hope it comes out. Then she proceeded to go to the dining room and pee on the carpet even though I yelled at her right when she squatted. ARGH! I’m so going to lose my security deposit!

Bobby discovered that my air conditioner doesn’t work. I haven’t used it yet this year, but I felt that Allie might need some cool air in the apartment to feel better, so I closed all the windows and turned on the air. When we came back to check on her a few hours later it didn’t feel any cooler in the apartment. Bobby did a cursory check of the air conditioning unit outside and said it’s not working, only the fans are kicking on. At this point I don’t care…and I’ll let my landlord and the next tenants deal with it. He can use the security deposit to get new carpet and a new air conditioner.

Last night Bobby was trying to feel Allie’s tummy to see how skinny she felt and she freaked out and bit him really badly on the hand. Despite washing it with antibacterial soap, flushing it out with peroxide, and putting Neosporn on it, it got infected and now his hand is all swollen and he’s on antibiotics. At least I don’t have to pin him down to get him to take his medicine. But I still feel horrible that Allie did that to him.

Then earlier today (yesterday I guess), I was going to Kohl’s with Carly and I decided to check my mail for any coupons and was treated to a nice surprise…a subpoena! Apparently, I have to file city tax for Fairborn and they want me to appear in court because I didn’t file in 2008 (or 2009…but they don’t know that yet apparently). I’m going to fight it because there’s something on the website that says if your permanent address isn’t in a RITA (Regional Income Tax Agency) city, then you don’t have to pay. The proof of residency is your drivers license (says my permanent address in Beavercreek where there is no city tax), federal and state tax forms (Beavercreek), vehicle registration (Beavercreek), or voter registration card (Beavercreek). I think if I fight it I might win and not have to pay since I’m living in a temporary residence and I was a full-time student for the entire year of 2008 and 2009. The bad news is that I have to appear in court to fight it and my court date is Friday, June 11 so I’ll need to ask off work. It adds another day to my vacation (I took the 14th-18th off work to go to Boston), but I also have to use another 8 hours of PTO. Oh well, I’ll use it to pack for my trip and pack for my move.

So hopefully things will begin looking up soon. All I can say is thank goodness for Bobby and his support through all this.

Yikes! That is some crazy stuff going on. I’m so glad Bobby is there for you and so supportive, too!
