Jack the Pontiac is Sick :(

Bobby and I were on the way down to Newport today and my car decided to die on me.  I was driving on 675 south, just about 5 miles from Bobby’s house (and about 1 mile from mine), and I was doing about 70mph on cruise control in the far left lane.  I was just asking Bobby if it felt like my car was bucking a bit and when he said yes the car suddenly started decelerating.  I pushed on the gas multiple times and nothing happened.  I tried to push the brake but it was really hard to press the pedal.  Finally I was able to get the brake to depress, so I maneuvered the car over to the shoulder and stopped.  I turned off the car and then it wouldn’t turn back on.  I had to call Carly and have her and Matt come pick us up and wait for a tow truck.  Bobby thinks it’s the fuel pump, which can be a few hundred dollars to fix, but my stepdad said he has a friend that is a mechanic that can fix it for less.  For now it’s in the parking lot of a mechanic because my stepdad is out of town.  So I’m without transportation for a few days.  Bobby has offered to drive me wherever I need to go, including to and from work, and Carly has offered me the use of her car since she and Matt work at the same place and he doesn’t have set hours.

I’m just kind of bummed because the past two days have been kind of crappy.  I had some very rude members on the phone Friday, I left my lunch on the counter yesterday when I left for work, my car broke down making us and everyone else late going down to Newport, and then when I got home and tried to watch a movie the DVD was defective.  I bought the DVD months ago at Half Price Books and since I don’t have the receipt anymore I’m out $7 and I can’t watch Milk.

Why must cars get sick at the worse times?? ugh. That stinks about the DVD, too. so annoying. But I’m glad you were able to pull off the road safely when your car died, and that you have good friends who are there to help you out with rides, etc.
