My “Sick” Day…

One of the things  the most about my job is that the supervisors spend more time trying to micromanage everyone’s actions that things never really get done.  A perfect example would be how they like to keep track of everyone’s time.  We have to be at our desks at precisely 8:00 am and we cannot leave at the end of the day until precisely 5:00 pm.  If I come in at 8:02 (like I have did one time because of traffic), we receive a write-up and our pay is docked.  If we finish our work by 4:55 pm, we must sit there at our desks until the clock actually says it is 5:00 pm.  Our devision is the ONLY one within all of DPS that does this.  I’ve asked my friends why their supervisors don’t treat them as though they were in kindergarten and she says, "Because we aren’t.  We’re all adults and our supervisors are intelligent enough to know that."  I’m really starting to not like working there…

This morning, I woke up a little late.  Normally, I have to be out the door and on the road by 7am so that I’m at work early enough to not be tardy.  This morning, I woke up at 7:05 and I just KNEW I wouldn’t make it in on time.  I started cussing up a storm and throwing shit out of my way around the apartment.  I really didn’t want to have my pay docked 5 or 10 minutes….that’s just STUPID!  So I called in sick.  I have the time, I’m sure gonna use it.  Today is an absolutely BEAUTIFUL day and I’m glad I called in.  Now instead of being all stressed out from being a little late, I can relax in the sun and play games all day long.  🙂  I love sick days…..

it is silly isn’t it? if we’re late because of traffic, or whatnot, then we’re marked down on it because apparently we should know if there’s going to be severe delays. so people do the same thing & call in sick if they get stuck on their way in & are going to be late. xx
