A Token Of Their Appreciation…
Last night I wrote up a pretty lengthy entry for My POV to post yesterday, but I forgot and left it on my computer. Hopefully I’ll remember tonight.
Tuesday, I was notified that I would be receiving a raise at work. I was so happy. Since I got my new car, money has been a little tighter than normal. My payments along with insurance is about $400 a month. With my truck, the insurance was taken out of Joe’s paycheck and he got a corporate discount, so for full coverage, it only cost about $35 a month. Now it’s a little over $100. And my truck was paid off so going from $35 a month to $400 is a big rough on the pocket book. So, when they told me they were giving me a raise, I was really happy. Then they told me how much and now I’m having conflicted emotions. I don’t know whether to be semi-ok with it or really insulted. I’m only getting another $200 a month.
The office manager was the one who told me and her words were, "At least your getting a raise!" Big freakin’ whoop. I tried talking to Joe about how I felt and he tells me the same thing. No big surpirse there. I talked to my friend Zane about it and he said the same thing, too. So am I just being a greedy bitch? I mean, I spend more that $200 a month just on gas to get to work. This company grossed almost $1 billion last year. They throw money at their sales reps will all sorts of bonuses (last quarters bonus was $25,000) and trips throughout the year and all they can manage to squeeze out for me is a lousy $200 a month???? Am I being unreasonable? All the shit I do so these guys can "earn" their pay, and I am given a symbolic raise. This doesn’t even put me in a higher tax bracket…
I just don’t know how to feel about it…..
Can you become a salesperson? Here at work, I’m an indirect, so while I do things to bring us work, my salary isn’t considered (technically) to be making the company a profit. With this I (scarlet letter) stamped on my head, I don’t get the raises the direct people do.

$200 seems like a lot of money to me, but i live at home and don’t have a job. So, yeah, i could understand how you’d be miffed with them.
